What data are they obtaining that literally every other app isn't already stealing?
This is not about China stealing data. You're being willfully ignorant if you truly believe that.
This is about the United States federal government's inability to control content to which over 170 million Americans had access.

Think about it TikTok has been able to divide tOT denizens within their own brains. When TikTok came up in the past not related to the current sale or banning tOT upvoted the hell out of banning it now that it might be banned it is in favor of keeping it around. If they can make individuals flip flop they can certainly divide a nation.
Not a good example. The OT is filled with a bunch of boomers who have proudly “never downloaded that crap” and think it’s just a bunch of “dumb kids dancing and lowest common denominator of society.” They hate anything the youth like because they are old and cynical.

It's by far the best app for social media and the US government is pissed they can't control it.
Doesn’t the Chinese government currently control it?
(I’m honestly asking)

Most folks cant think for themselves and just follow whatever popular opinion they believe will be acceptable.
I'm FAR more worried about American govt tracking me than the Chinese Govt.

TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, was founded by Chinese entrepreneurs. ByteDance is a privately-held global company, roughly 60 percent owned by global institutional investors (such as Blackrock, General Atlantic, and Susquehanna International Group), 20 percent owned by the company’s founders, and 20 percent owned by its employees—including over 7,000 U.S.-based employees. It is not owned or controlled by any government or state-controlled entity

In about the same way the US govt controlled Twitter and Facebook a few years ago.

The reason the US govt banned it is because they can't control the content. So much information, news and political opinions were being shared there that main stream media would brush under the rug. It's also basically the OT on steroids when it comes to hearing news before anyone else, let alone uncovering information. It's not dividing us, it was actually opening people's eyes to what actually is dividing us, which is our own piece of shite government.
I personally don’t care either way about tic tok but you make interesting points . Especially the last one. Turning people against their government and traditions is what communism attempts to do. And they usually take aim at the lower classes and feeble minded young people first . TikTok is controlled by communist China and the us government doesn’t have a say. So I do see there could be potential danger towards our country like everything else communism has attacked. But it does seem weird that the current government has rolled out the red carpet for every other communist invasion into our lives, but suddenly up in arms about this. So probably government just wanting their own piece of the pie. Basically they want communism but not Chinese controlled communism.

They want their monetary piece of the pie and to control the content that gets created on the platform.
It's not a safety measure to keep us from being divided. It's a control mechanism to ensure we stay divided and alienate certain political opinions.
We've already seen this with Facebook and Twitter.
The US govt doesn't want It's populace to be informed. It wants it to be controlled.

What political opinions are exclusive to tic tok that you don't get on something like Twitter?

What do you think communist China wants to do with the US populace?
Every poster supporting communist China over the US for free speech and for being less controlling has lost enough IQ points staring at tiktok to qualify for special benefits.
Communist China places the US as its number 1 enemy. Whatever they do is to help communist China and hurt the US. Never heard this on TikTok?? Might be because they ban and censor facts like that. Freedom of speech my arse!
Comments may be closer to being accurate on why dems suddenly switched to being against tiktok after taking so much money from them and criticizing Trump for his trade and tiktok policies during his first term, but conservatives and republicans have been on board with this for awhile even when locked out or censored on other platforms. Getting communist China out of the US in any form is a good thing. The law gives President power to act on other applications, and new laws should go even farther.
If you want to keep supporting communist China while it sets up its abilities to dominate the US militarily, economically, and make us bend the knee to them you can go frick yourself traitor. You are no better than the Dems who pushed the Russian reset, approved the uranium sale to Russia and putin, and then made jokes about anyone having concerns about Russia as still living in the 80s. Those fools flipped as soon as the dems could use Russia to interfere with Trump and acted like their support of Russia never happened. When will you fools flip and make yourselves even less credible than you are now?

The numbers frighten them in a way the establishment has never been frightened. The paid political shills barely get a glance anymore. Luigi rocked their world and they are very, very frightened.

Tiktok has told them Twitter is not any different than before, and that tiktok is the only guardian of free speech. Addiction to TikTok, listening to “influencers” who just make more money on TikTok than elsewhere or are paid by tiktok to push tiktok as the free speech savior, subliminal messaging, or all of the above has messed with their brains.

You’re obviously just as ignorant as our youth. The Chinese Communist Party is potentially influencing TikTok's users by controlling user feeds, suppressing dissent, or spreading disinformation. Our youth don’t even realize it and apparently neither do you. Try Google for recipes.

Don't worry all you gotta do is go to Instagram or YouTube video shorts
So last night I was watching videos on instagram from TikTok people saying how they wouldn’t be able to stay in contact with their ‘fans’ then proceeded to mention all of the other social media platforms that they are on.
Am I missing something specific to just TikTok?

Yes, I don't want to go to all of the other platforms to view them all. I liked that everyone was in one spot.
