Just a tip for you, there are always open beds. If you bitch loud enough they will take you back

They definitely do not always have open beds. I've seen, on a regular basis, ambulance patients on a bed waiting in the hall way, as well as treating patients with actual care in the hallway(that requires no beds but good staffing, usually done when the bulk of ER beds are filled with inpatients waiting for beds upstairs)

Fake a damn heart attack. Anything to get you back there. I can promise you there are beds available
Also, if you "fake a heart attack" they will check your vitals and probably give you an EKG while in triage. Once that EKG comes back clean, back to the waiting room you go.

Eventually there will be private emergency rooms you’ll be able to go to. Gonna cost you but at least you’ll get taken care of quickly.

And they get triaged and sent right back out to the waiting room. Trust me, often they are in the waiting room before the unit can reset and go back in service.
If it's a minor symptom and vitals are fine, where I worked, the EMS folks would take you out of the ambulance, wheel you straight to the waiting room, drop you off and be on their way.

Living in Spain for the past 3 years, I can say that you are dead wrong as to socialized Healthcare in this country. And we know several people from the US who travel here for health procedures because even with airfare and hotel rooms included, its much cheaper than the cost in the US.

I didn't say anything regarding costs, I stated in some countries qualify of care and services is below par in education, equipment and medications.... And that is a fact.
Canadian healthcare services is placing geriatric patients on Hospice instead of treating them to save funding. Those same patients would get treatment and operative services in the US.
I have a friend in France that was placed on a 6month waiting list for a head CT to rule out glioblastoma. He flew to the US and had it performed the same day.

And I've white knuckled it through gallbladder attacks because the high deductible on my shitty insurance made surgery prohibitive.

So in other words you received minor care that any Minute Clinic with a experienced nurse could diagnose, given some simple antibiotics, and now want to claim the entire American Medical system is nothing but scam and elsewhere is better. Got it.
Again, i would suggest you take some English reading lessons if that is what you took away from my post…. No, it turns out i did not in fact have anything serious.. but that clearly wasnt the POINT of my post.. the point is that these hospitals in some other countries look and feel more like high end hotels than hospitals, the doctors are ultra-professional.. there was ZERO wait time to be seen.. and i went to the freaking ER and met with two doctors plus tests and scripts for less than $100 USD….. If there had been something seriously medically wrong with me, i have no doubt i would have recieved excellent care that would NOT have bankrupted me.. this is not just my own anecdotal experience, i have talked to many people and read many accounts of folks with similar experiences and great outcomes…. But by all means, please go ahead and let your feelings and emotions about USA medical care get in the way of what is factually accurate .

ER isn't a place for possible breaks unless it's a compound fracture. Go to an ortho the next day.
The sound my ankle made was like when you tear the leg off of a baked turkey at Thanksgiving.

Two words: chest pain
It is the golden ticket
My elderly parent waited roughly 7 hours in the ER with chest pains.
After looking at him for about 34 seconds they sent him home.
Less than a month later (about 3 weeks ago) he had a pacemaker put in.....

I had to be rushed to the ER in I think 2013 because of my gall bladder. It was at the general on Bluebonnet. I remember the nurse being pissed because there were a few addicts in there who were trying to get a fix. And they just put them in an ambulance and tell them to bring them somewhere else, but in the mean time one was hollering and just bullshite they shouldn't have to deal with when there are people coming in with some serious injuries or health issues.

Sorry about that. But it's still a waste of time and money to go to the ER. They just boot it or splint it and tell you to go to an ortho the next day. We experienced this once with one of my kids and will never do that again.

You keep mentioning this despite your lack of capitalization and punctuation as well as your run on sentences. Quite the irony, I must say.

If you actually read my post I made no mention of cost. Why, because I know it's cheaper in foreign countries. I too have lived overseas and know the healthcare firsthand.
But I, unlike you, am a medical provider and know the education (lack thereof) of the staff, the outdated equipment, I have been in the back rooms and viewed the OR suites.
It's not your fault, you don't know what you don't know. You only see the glitz and glamor of the buildings and rooms where the money is spent instead of the technology, equipment and staff.

It's not your fault, ignorance is bliss.

This is a freaking message board, who gives a shite about capitalization or spelling , lol @ you .
Oh, trust me i have noticed how you keep ignoring the gigantic elephant in the room.. Like it or not, cost is a factor in this conversation, i would say in the top three factors actually, so ignoring cost is akin to asking “But besides that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play ?”
Ah, i do believe we have found the issue .

Ok , maybe it is me who needs help with comprehension.. Someone please explain to me, and i am being sincere- why one needs to choose between paying a reasonable amount of money, and being seen quickly ? Why not both ??

I have already provided , in this thread, one example of how i was seen with lighting speed and had tests and everything else done for a small amount of money.. and i know that i am far from alone in that experience outside of the US.. . So why do certain posters keep repeating the lie that if you dont pay a sky-high price, you will take 18 months to be seen ? That has already been proven to be a lie .

The ER and this isn’t a surprise today, has become a doctor’s office for the uninsured.
No it hasn't. You're waiting so long because it's understaffed and there are people who misuse it.
I don't know where you live but I know for a fact that the vast majority of ED pt's in Louisiana have a payor source. Very few are uninsured.
Now, do you really want to be pissed off? The incarcerated get excellent healthcare. I know this for a fact too.
