Honestly, that basically leaves Rolex. Nothing wrong with that I am a big Rolex fan and own more of them than any other brand save one. Most other watch brands tend to either not rise to baller status or require at least a semi watch geek to recognize them.

That’s different. There’s a story behind it and you probably don’t flash it around because of it.

In general yes. The market for Rolex is very hot. If you buy most Rolex Professional models today you could sell them for 50% to 100% more than you paid for them tomorrow. Long term there are few other brands and models that have the same value retention.

It's Seiko. It's like going to Walmart and buying the most expensive thing there.

Maybe I don't know much. But I'm like the other guy- if I'm spending that much, I'm getting a "name."

It isn't a very interesting one at least currently though I do have some rather rare ones. It is Panerai.

13 Panerais along with 10 Omegas and 10 Rolexes make up over 50% of my collection.

Just as a gauge of public opinion, which BB58 do y'all like better?

I forgot to answer but I prefer the gilt dial Blackbays the gilt dial and red triangle have such a historical flair to them. That said I am also a sucker for blue dialed watches but still waiting for Tudor to bring back the blue dialed sub which they likely won't do.

A Marine Nationale is my fav Tudor of all time.

Obtuse, I'm intrigued by the self-adjusting clasp on the Pelagos. How does it compare to the Glidelock in terms of comfort? Which one do you prefer?

Maybe if you're wearing a commonly known brand (Rolex, Omega, Cartier), but if you're wearing a Tudor you aren't wearing it to flex, because no one knows what it is. Same with GS, JLC, IWC, Panerai, etc...

That could be a pro when looking at buying a watch. You can sell it eventually and recoup a lot of cost when you want a new watch.

There is nothing wrong with Rolex, they are fantastic watches. There is stereotype about Rolex owners though, that they aren't really "into" watches, they are basically just flexing. This is often, but not always, the case.

I have worn it ~5 times

It's all gold and really nice. Had it appraised for quite a bit.

But I've only worn it with tuxedos at black tie events.

A Rolex doesn't make you a 'baller.'

First, let's clear up the intent of the clasp as I did not understand it when they first came out and actually owned one before I fully understood it.

The first three dots are the micro-adjust range for wearing on land. The 6 circles are the sprung adjustment for use with the dive extension while diving. The three dots work like the Glidelock on the Sub and SD where you remove the watch and click them into place. You move it into the sprung area when diving. This allows the bracelet to expand and contract as the neoprene in your wet suit expands and contracts similar to the accordion design on rubber straps for dive watches. For most people, the springs have far too much tension to use as an automatic adjustment on land, well unless you wear your watches really tight. I have used it diving but I am primarily a warm water shallow reef diver so I don't notice much difference at 10-25ft and due to the warm water almost never wear thicker than a 2mm suit and often wear a short sleeve spring suit or a farmer john.

The static micro-adjustments work just as well as the Glidelock but have a smaller adjustment range. One of if not my favorite clasp is the Glidelock on the Deep Sea Sea-Dweller (odd Rolex didn't give it a different name) as it can be adjusted without removing the catch or open opening the clasp in the traditional way.

Depends on the Rolex. If I see a Platona I think baller and I believe when I pull the 6265 Panda or 6265 Spirit of Japan out of the safe it is a pretty baller move.
