Some of these families have really good virtues, the Mars family are good people. The merchant class, or whatever you want to call it though, as a group, is too short sighted, and too selfish, to do what is right for a nation. The qualities that allowed them to build immense fortunes, are also the qualities which make them a terrible choice to shape a countries future.
In the case of the Rothschilds, you never want to be ruled by a different ethno-religious group. They will never see themselves in you, and they will never have any sense of obligation to you. You're not them. Instead they will exploit you for their own purposes, and they will never think twice about it.

If any family were to claim that distinction it would be the Morgans. The Rockefellers were often in opposition to them and more American focused, rather than British (not that they were saints).
