The Charlotte suburbs in SC are exploding big time.

Leave.

"Boy, I regret getting my children out of Baton Rouge," said nobody in the history of ever.

Thoughts on moving to Charlotte from Baton Rouge

My thoughts are that there’s no downside moving from Baton Rouge to anywhere else in the country, with the possible exception of like Flint, MI, or Kansas or something.. nah, i’d probably even pick a generic place like Kansas over BR.

Moved here as soon as i graduated in 2013 and love it. Awesome city with a great social scene for young adults and a great place to start a family. I help run the local alumni chapter here too so feel free to reach out at president@lsucarolinas.com

For the negatives, just avoid the area north of uptown and south of UNCC. Ballantyne, South Park, Steele Creek areas are nice.

If you're family is on board with it there's nothing negative about it.

I have never seen morale as low in Louisiana as now.

For less taxes, live across the border in South Carolina.

Wait until all the earners unass this dumpster fire of a state.

It's gonna be like Thunderdome in here once we're all gone.

Move back to the yankeeland where you came from. If you live in Louisiana and your family doesn’t own land it’s because you’re descended from a carpetbagger

Fort Mills, SC just outside of Charlotte is a great little town. Son lived there for a couple years before moving back to Raleigh last November. Plus gas is way cheaper in SC than NC and it's right next to Carrowinds Amusement Park, so the kids will love it.

But not gonna lie, traffic can be a bitch heading into and out of Charlotte on I75 from either side of the city.

If you are working uptown, I wouldn’t live in SC. Sure you’ll save some money but you commute will suck and it’ll only get worse with the rate of growth.

Now, if the job offer is in Ballantyne or somewhere south of South Park, then I’d consider crossing the border into SC.

Not picking... Just for the sake of accuracy

Fort Mill

Carowinds

Gasoline used to be 30 cents/gal but a couple of SC taxes has it down to about half of that.

It's I-77 OR I-85... And yes, traffic is a bear coming in at morning or leaving at evening.

Been in Charlotte 'my whole life'. It's bigger than folks realize. A lot going on.... It has its problems and issues, like any large city, but it's not bad.

Like most places, most violent crime is in 3 or 4 zip codes. Good craft beer scene. Typical airport. A couple of decent lakes, (Wylie and Norman). 2 hours to the mountains, 3 to the beach.

I'll answer what I can honestly and help you in whatever way possible.

Lake Norman is nice.

There is more 21-35 single females that work in downtown than a movie could produce

I’d say the airport is atypical in that it’s much bigger than most similar sized cities would have.

And I’d say thats a definite positive as you can fly just about anywhere direct domestically.

I lived in huntersville from 2011-2015.

Very nice place to live. Great for families, etc.

Lake Norman, Mtn. Island, and Wiley are fun lakes.

It's better than BR is almost every conceivable way.

I live in Mississippi now, FWIW. lol

I has gotten really bad in the last 3-4 years

The downturn in the offshore oil & gas markets certainly has contributed.
