This doesn't compute. I haven't bought new a while, but is there not literally only a couple $1000 difference between a canyon and 1500? What kind of difference are we legit talking about? $5000?
I like the canyons but I'd be surprised if they hold their value anywhere close to a full size. Full size trucks hold their value absurdly right now.
OP, no way I'd buy a kid a new vehicle. I'd always buy used simply because if they want to blow the money on a new vehicle IMO it should be their own money. Let them buy their first car new on their own IMO.

Very. I've had some people 6'2" in mine and they said they were comfortable. The front seats have way more room than they used to. I've taken myself and 4 others on trips and there were no complaints.

I've been looking at them lately. I just paid my Sierra off and wanted someone with better gas mileage for my 100 mile daily commute to BR. If I got one I'd certainly get the diesel. I'll probably wait though and enjoy not having a note for awhile

No general motors product can compete with Toyota or Nissan in terms of reliability. Resale value, it's Toyota all the way.
