He murdered 600,000 people to keep imaginary lines in place
Then we added 17 more states and erased his lines, without killing anyone. Proving that the Constitution is always far more important to the actual union. Which Lincoln destroyed
Many of those states would have re-joined, if not all. Those that didnt would have been no different than Canada or Mexico has been, as far as border issues

Did he really think people would start saying “fourscore”?

He wasn’t a big fan of slavery
Meh. He said that if he could preserve the union without freeing a single slave he would have.
Man of true conviction.

The south should have listened to Sam Houston
quote:
“Let me tell you what is coming. After the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, you may win Southern independence if God be not against you, but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche; and what I fear is, they will overwhelm the South.”

Great speech writer. Divisive. Oversaw a rough time in our history. Has the blood of 600,000 Americans on his hands.
Thought more could have been done to prevent the civil war.

What do people on the OT think of the 16th US president?
Abraham Lincoln was a good-old man
He hopped out the window with his dick in his hand
He said, "Excuse me lady, I'm doing my duty
So pull down your pants and give me some booty"

quote:Your thesis is factually incorrect.
The only reason there was a Civil War was because the northern states couldn't make money off slaves.
Possibly an argument could be made for an inversion of it though: the model of slavery didn’t work for the Northern economy hence abolition of it was not locally painful for Northerners. Then abolition became only a moral issue for Northerners.
By the mid 19th century it was becoming clear that Slavery was indefensible from an evolved human perspective.
