urethral stent

I maintain that removing the 8 week stent that had fused to my urethra without drugs was the singularly most painful experience I’ve ever had.

What kind of idiot left a stent in your urinary tract for 8 weeks???? I've had 3 stents removed and that was only after 2 weeks after the procedure to remove the kidney stones by breaking them up and taking out the pieces.

4x c sections.

Dilaudid is strong.

These drugs never made me feel high, they just made the feeling that I’d been knifed in the stomach calm down.

I grew up with a parent who was a pain pill addict so I’ve always been scared of it and don’t take them for longer than what is totally necessary, aka for maybe 4-5 days post op.

Demerol, hands down. You can feel the waive of pure bliss sweep over your brain. They don't use it much any more for colonoscopies; but my word, what a great feeling.

Damn, that sounds fricking awful

It is, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The pain can be damn near unbearable at times.

I've found myself on my floor in a fetal position writhing in pain more than a few times with the 20+ stones I've passed over the years.

Had an ulcerated colon and back in the room had a pain pump. They gave me a shot of morphine in the IV and everything just flowed into a pinpoint and then it was like living in a snapshot of just the present. The warm blanket is accurate. No care for past or future. Then watched the clock to hit that button again. 1 press every hour but no sooner than 50 mins between them.

I had a 15mm stone that got really infected and it just wouldn’t clear up. Couldn’t do lithotripsy for some reason.

“Warm blanket “ term is correct. My fifth heart attack the nurse was supposed to give me that but I felt no warm blanket. I went thru a hour wait with very severe heart pain.

Still think she gave me saline. Doc got the stent in “with about 30 seconds to spare” per the doc. Should have asked for an investigation.

Coincidentally I just had eye surgery today. I got the first eye done earlier this week. They gave me two doses of versed and it barely sedated me enough to do the procedure. So this time they gave me a Valium beforehand, then the versed. It still wasn't working so they gave me a little fentanyl and it finally put me under enough for them to finish. It all kicked in once it was over and I slept the rest of the day.

The reason for all this is I am extremely anxious about hospitals and have a severe needle phobia. My BP, which is typically around 120/75, was 186/100 when they took it this morning

I’ve had that stuff and , for me, it was worthless. Did nothing but put me in a pissed off mood and do little for pain. Advil did a better job.
But punching a wall and not caring was pretty cool.

It is with a script.

Or you buy it off your neighbor with cancer.

My friends mom had the lollipop painkillers for cancer pain. I think those are opioids though.

It’s great though an IV but will clog you up.

We really ought to outlaw female circumcision.
