Guards who get killed are generally a POS who treat the prisoners as inhuman. Or they were dirty and working with prisoners smuggling in drugs or something.... Either way they're pretty much on the same level as the prisoner, they just were smart enough not to get arrested. I have about as much sympathy for them as the prisoners.
If a good guard gets killed then even other inmates will speak out that they shouldn't have been killed. In those cases its sad.

Probably has no idea who wins the world series any year or anything going on in the outside world. Even if guards tell him, he has no way to confirm the truth. The TV's they get in solitary aren't the ones the GP gets, they're closed circuit, black and white, and only play educational and religious programs.... Probably hard for him to even tell what time of year it is through a 4 inch slit window that probably faces a wall or something anyway.
I bet if any guards told him Donald Trump was president he would think they were fricking with him since he's been in solitary since the 80s. Probably don't give him newspapers either.

While I would generally agree with you, Silverstein also killed another inmate a few years prior to that and there was a 2nd guard killed the same day he killed a guard. So it was clearly orchestrated.
Dude's killed 2 people IN prison. Both were stabbed dozens of times.
I'm not sure where else you keep a guy like that outside of solitary. I'm pretty sure I read when he killed the guard, he was basically in Solitary confinement moving around the prison and was passed a shank from another inmate.

The other inmate that he killed was the leader of a black gang that was actively trying to kill him with multiple attempts already. The guards knew it was happening and wanted one of them to kill the other. Kill or be killed, what would you do?

After killing him he dragged the body up and down the catwalk in front of the cells, displaying it to other prisoners for full psychological impact.
Dude has god-like status to white inmates through out the U.S. penal system.

Him and his buddy Clayton Fountain were some bad mofo's...only reason Clayton went off that day was because he wanted a higher blood count.
Some of these guards who cross the lines with how they treat inmates are pretty much asking for it..not saying all, but there are some who abuse the shite out of their powers and think they are invincible...
i was detainee guard in Iraq and theres no fricking way I'd ever take up that career in my life...never.

People shouldn't be imprisoned at all. I don't blame anyone for fighting his/her captors.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - if there was a magic button to release all prisoners while providing for their reintegration into a new voluntary anarchic society, I would press it in a heartbeat.
