re: This season's flu shot for the US, UK and Canada is likely to be a 'mismatch'

My husband always gets his flu shot at his work because someone visits his office to give them.
I used to, but our office started getting them later and later. One year, it was well into November.
Nah, brah. I need my shite in October. October 1 comes around, and I'm getting my shot. I need that 3-4 weeks before Thanksgiving to let that sweet immunity take hold before I get exposed to my cousin's kids.

The amount of money that could be saved by preventative healthcare far outweighs the cost of what you may think is overpaying for something. It’s far cheaper to pay some pharmacy $X than pay a hospital $XXXX if someone ends up in the ER.

Flu shot is generally 30-50% effective.
It's literally harmless to 99.9% of the population and has a reasonable chance to save you 10 days of misery and a few days of sick time.
The only people who don't get it are idiots. Antivaccine crowd are some of the dumbest people on the planet.

Administered 32 of them today.
This is the first flu season with my daughter in school so I’m hoping she doesn’t get it.

Yep. I read somewhere that last year's vaccine was only 30% effective.

Based on the fact that OP calls herself fricking "wifey"
On a scale of 0-10, how annoying do you think she is IRL?
I'm guessing a solid 7

Already, one child has died of the flu in the US - an alarming bellwether that the US may be in for a particularly bad season.
Are they fricking serious with this shite? Close to 80,000 people die in the US every year of the flu. But one child dying of the flu is an “alarming bellwether” this is going to be a “particularly bad” season? And they wonder why people look at the media as a joke now.

As usual, I will not be getting a flu shot. I will not be injecting my body with that poison.
Well right, a trained medical professional is the one doing the injecting.

Do you think annual flu vaccines are beneficial, harmful, or make no difference?
Beneficial in the right patient population. I just don't trust the govt...as tinfoil hat as that may seem.

Were required to get them at the nursing home where I work. It’s that or wear a mask from October 1 - April (or is it March?). I just take it — can’t breathe with that thing.
Last year 90% of the residents had it and majority had had flu shot. Visitors and families though bring all kinds of shite into the building as well as employees. Ugh. No deaths last year from it fortunately.
Anyway husband swabbed and dx today. Not sure which type but it’s the flu.
