This problem affects us all. PDs need accountability. Remember Daniel Shaver.

This movement is centered around blacks but it affects us ALL. It's not just a black issue. Many whites have been victims of police brutality, corruption and murder with no consequences.

Reminder of the Daniel Shaver case in AZ from 2016. Just watch the video, it's all you need to see. The guy is drunk, trying his best to comply with contradicting orders at gunpoint and then executed inside his hotel. The cop was fired, found not guilty, then rehired to collect pension. There is currently no accountability for the police in America. This is why we need these protests (NOT RIOTS). We need change.

There are multiple cameras from the several cops' body cam footage. Here's one on TMZ. Just watch how crazy this shite is.

Bodycam Footage: https://www.tmz.com/2017/12/07/mesa-police-involved-shooting-bodycam-philip-brailsford-not-guilty-daniel-shaver/

quote:

In January of 2016, Daniel was executed by police officer, Philip Brailsford, in Mesa, AZ. Daniel's last words, "please don't shoot me" as he crawled towards the officers while crying and begging for his life.

Officer Philip Brailsford had inscribed the words "YOU'RE frickED" on the dust cover his AR-15 he used in Daniel's execution. Daniel was shot five times.

Brailsford was fired by Mesa PD and charged with second-degree murder and later acquitted of all charges. Brailsford was rehired by Mesa police so he could receive an annual (taxpayer-funded) $30,000+ pension for the rest of his life, due to "PTSD" claims for murdering Daniel.

It starts local
Follow your city council & mayor
They are who sets pay, they are who sets policy & procedure
Push for raises to attract better candidates with higher qualifications
Push for reform on procedures
Push for money spent on training

This is the one that always comes to mind for me. This is the worst example I've seen in my life. It's a horrifying video.

The militarization of our police forces is a problem for ALL of us. It totally pisses me off the BLM has taken this as their own problem. It alienates people when we should all before for police reforms like ending the drug war, civil asset forfeiture, no-knock raids, and qualified immunity.

yeah....plenty of whities get killed by cops

my buddy in college got killed by a cop at BB King's (choke hold)

problem is that a lot of cops are:

A. Poorly trained
B. Ignorant
C. scumbags who abuse their authority

I've been roughed up by the cops twice back in my partying days. Not only that, both times they stole all my cash

and even the good ones look the other way when it comes to calling out the bad ones.

I am sure some of these cops that kill are racist. But a lot of em are probably just morons.

But, when a cop kills a black guy, it makes for good headlines

So, here we are...hate, riots, and reduced playing time for my 8th grader who has a black basketball coach

A lot of these police reforms that are needed should be endorsed by both sides. No knock warrants need to be a thing of the past as soon as possible. The drug war was dumb and we need to decriminalize drug users. Investing more heavily in the community instead of militarizing the police is a better method. Qualified immunity should be ended. There is a lot we can agree on if we just listen to each other.

Agreed. This should have never become about race.

100% agree with OP

This is where I feel BLM really could’ve latched on is that whites are killed just as much even more by police. It could’ve been a unified front instead it’s divide and conquer.

But I now understand why they didn’t want to take unified approach - they are calling for reparations, free college, more money for social programs etc. Things that they could never get if it was a unified white, black, Hispanic, Asian group approach.

I'm not saying let's defund PDs across America. I'm just saying we need new laws/reforms to counter this real problem we have. We have to demilitarize the police and set up some kind of real system to hold them accountable. Because clearly they won't do it themselves. I cannot believe this murderer is now collecting taxpayer funded checks for the rest of his life.

Sorry, we can't have that talk now. It WAS the perfect time to actually move the needle regarding police violating civilian rights. Even could have gotten a good hard look at ending the war on drugs or at least doing away with some of the lower end of it.

BUT NOOOOOOO! These dummies HAD to riot and ruin it. Now all they will get is more police state because it's what they've earned.
