re: Current A.I. explosion…

If you're anywhere near the IT field, do what I did. I am NOT a programmer, I'm a network admin. I have asked chatGPT to write several *simple* programs in python /setup complex reverse proxy setups/ and write docker configs without know what the hell I was even asking. and they worked. These are things no google search could ever answer, and it was delivered in steps... Amazing and scary.

ETA: yes I agree it's stupid to argue over about this being *sentient* behavior. I don't believe this is a human robot. but there's no doubt in my mind after trying it that this is definitely a huge game changer on what machines can do.
Awesome, will check these two out. Thanks cajuntiger and tiger win.
Don't know. Read an article that the owner closed it to start on an oyster focused service through Rouse's. Sad because they were really tasty and affordable meals, ton's of variety.
Since Good Eats shut down last year I never really looked into a replacement. Trying to eat better and thought about that service again. Does anyone know if a similar service is in Baton Rouge? Precooked healthy meals you can have delivered or pick up weekly.
That was gold

The mom's flipping' out and the bro is still like no, no, she's coming home with me, it's cool.
No, but I can tell you AT&T's 5g is currently the slowest 5g out of all the networks. Here in Baton Rouge, it is actually slower than LTE. I have a phone with 5g and I have it turned off because it is slower (and uses more power). The speeds will improve over time, but for now I'd say stay away. This is a nationwide issue with ATT, just google it.

Most of y’all won’t have been around long enough to remember this but several years ago there was a well dressed white guy working his way around Baton Rouge with a “my car broke down” scam. He managed to hit up several people on the OT and it became an ongoing thread about this dude. St. Paddy’s day morning we were all down by the overpass at our party spot and sure enough the guy rolls up. Description from the OT matched and his story matched. Half drunk me starts yelling “motherfricker, you are the guy from Tigerdroppings” and he just turns and walks off. Power of the OT all the way.

100% these people are organized. Stop giving them money.

I remember him and that thread. I saw him twice, once at the Circle K at Siegen and Perkins and second time at the College CFA. Same story both times

Do most of y'all not realize this isn't a Bahamas thing? It's basically the whole developed world that doesn't allow us in right now.

re: How much do you pay for cox

Posted by cmayLSU07 on 6/29/20 at 10:34 am to
I was paying over $100 to Cox just for internet when I switched last year to ATT fiber. I have have ATT 1000mbps download X1000mbps upload for $70 with NO data caps. Cox's more expensive option was only 1000downX35up. Cox's 35mbps up is their max on any tier, pretty sad. ATT has 15ms latency too which I had never seen before.

I hear ATT customer service is horrible, but I haven't had to use them once thank god. From a service standpoint and price, ATT is wayyyy better from my experience here in BR, so if they offer fiber to your house I would definitely recommend making the switch.
What infuriates me more is all so many whites not giving a crap about these issues because they think this is something that doesn't affect them, that it's something the left wing cooked up to put down the right. No. It affects us all. Wake up, don't stick your head in the sand and just brush this off as "lib media" BS.

You are looking at it backwards the primary desire is not to insure or increase punishment it is to prevent the deaths in the first place. I don't want Shaver's murdering cop doing life, I want Shaver alive and having been brought to justice in the courts for any crimes he may have committed.

I understand why people are questioning why BLM wasn't more inclusive and why didn't Shaver get more attention, the answer is pretty simple: White folks just don't care.

The majority of white people (myself included) tend to be perfectly happy about the status quo. Most of us here saw and discussed Shaver but we didn't do anything about it. I sat here on my computer and railed about it being the most horrific thing I have seen but I didn't do shite. In my bubble, I could NEVER see myself in the position Shaver was in. As fricked up as it was it wasn't ever going to be me and I am almost certainly correct. Black people have a different status quo, I have never once thought during a traffic stop "I wish I was black".

Like it or not white people have the power to reform the police system and we have avoided doing it because status quo is easy and the Shaver's are few and far between.

Nobody is perfect in this nor is anyone 100% wrong but as a whole we can do better.

I couldn't have articulated my thoughts as good as this guy. This ^^^ exactly.

What changes fix that? A rework of the judicial system? If we are unhappy with a jury's result, we put people on trial until we get the desired outcome? I don't understand the tangible changes that fix something like this.

Valid point. And I don't have all the answers, I just know something has to be done. But I think some of the changes to fix this issue would be in stricter training, and laws putting restriction on the use of guns by police. To prevent this type of thing from ever happening in the first place. Obviously after the fact, if a jury acquits, I don't see anything that can be done.

ETA: How about a simple nationwide law that if a subject is lying facedown on the ground with no weapons, no authority to fire, otherwise mandatory criminal charges and firing (with no option to rehire with pension :banghead: )

Like you said, it affects us all. If the BLM movement is what ends up causing changes to be made, I'm all for it.

Agreed.

I've gotten a lot of shite about minimizing the BLM movement with this post, which is why I've edited the post title. That wasn't my intention and I actually support most what the BLM movement represents. But, the point I was really trying to make is Police reform is an issue that should be separate from the BLM movement, as it doesn't just affect blacks, it affects ALL Americans. It's something I don't see how all America can't get behind in force, and quickly.

I'm seeing multiple articles saying the Jury did see the body cam footage. Here's one: https://heavy.com/news/2017/12/daniel-shaver-philip-brailsford-mesa-police-shooting-video-full/

I don't see how a Jury could see that and acquit but it appears that was the case.

The militarization of our police forces is a problem for ALL of us. It totally pisses me off the BLM has taken this as their own problem. It alienates people when we should all before for police reforms like ending the drug war, civil asset forfeiture, no-knock raids, and qualified immunity.

I completely agree and that's what's been so frustrating to watch while this all unfolds. This shouldn't be a racial issue at all. This should be an issue ALL Americans are worried/care about. We need all of the above reforms.

No, let's not frick up everything over anecdotes

I'm not saying let's defund PDs across America. I'm just saying we need new laws/reforms to counter this real problem we have. We have to demilitarize the police and set up some kind of real system to hold them accountable. Because clearly they won't do it themselves. I cannot believe this murderer is now collecting taxpayer funded checks for the rest of his life.
This movement is centered around blacks but it affects us ALL. It's not just a black issue. Many whites have been victims of police brutality, corruption and murder with no consequences.

Reminder of the Daniel Shaver case in AZ from 2016. Just watch the video, it's all you need to see. The guy is drunk, trying his best to comply with contradicting orders at gunpoint and then executed inside his hotel. The cop was fired, found not guilty, then rehired to collect pension. There is currently no accountability for the police in America. This is why we need these protests (NOT RIOTS). We need change.

There are multiple cameras from the several cops' body cam footage. Here's one on TMZ. Just watch how crazy this shite is.

Bodycam Footage: https://www.tmz.com/2017/12/07/mesa-police-involved-shooting-bodycam-philip-brailsford-not-guilty-daniel-shaver/

quote:

In January of 2016, Daniel was executed by police officer, Philip Brailsford, in Mesa, AZ. Daniel's last words, "please don't shoot me" as he crawled towards the officers while crying and begging for his life.

Officer Philip Brailsford had inscribed the words "YOU'RE frickED" on the dust cover his AR-15 he used in Daniel's execution. Daniel was shot five times.

Brailsford was fired by Mesa PD and charged with second-degree murder and later acquitted of all charges. Brailsford was rehired by Mesa police so he could receive an annual (taxpayer-funded) $30,000+ pension for the rest of his life, due to "PTSD" claims for murdering Daniel.
