Sounds like they need to not be there during the holidays? Or just secure the house as much as possible and have everything go on inside, have some friends on look out, have mace and tasers ready etc.

Sounds like you need to move or purchase a gun if its an every year thing.

Not saying I know who did this but if the house always gets robbed at the same time, this is probably a clue

Sucks that the city is so concerned with tearing down an historic statue than spending money on the community to reduce crime.

That's some cold blooded Pulp Fiction shite right there.
Can you fricking imagine you were having a kid Bday party at your house, and armed robbers hit it? Then hit you again next year. That is insane.
Charles Bronson time.

But didn't they vote to take the statues down?

Isn't this the same neighborhood that had five people shot during a robbery on New Years?
Move out. Your kids are not safe. Move out. Work a little harder or do whatever it takes. Get to steppin'

Inside job. Family member tipping off the tpos about good stuff in the house and they split the proceeds

This seems likely. At least it is someone with inside information of the family. They have to know that these people do not have weapons.
Walking up to a house in the south in hoodies, with guns, seems like the perfect way to have your moms explaining to the reporters that you were just about to start college and turn your life around.
