$322/sf spec home with carpet and cheap modern finishes and less than an acre of land? Why the hell would someone spending that much not just build exactly what they want?

And maybe build it so all the rooflines don't drain into the main entrance?

What a damn mess that house is...

The views are excellent, though.

The Indians paying these prices are typically from out of state. Their last house was probably a 3/2 townhouse in New Jersey that cost $800k that was built in 1988. They don't know any better.

I know it happens, but man what a stupid thing to buy. You can get sooooo much more value for that kind of money.

How is it "custom" if the buyer doesn't get to customize it?

The buyer for that home is probably Indian (see my post bottom of page 2) and looking for max SF and # of bedrooms in this area. The problem appears to be that they ran out of wealthy Indians before they ran out of homes.

this is the second time someone has mentioned crown molding in this thread. What is the fascination with some cheap factory cut painted trim?

That modernist kind of style doesn't exactly lend itself to crown molding. Just like you typically don't see ornate base molding or extra wide casing, a lack of an ornate chair rail. Certain styles lend themselves to the use of fancier moldings. The style is not one of those.

No but people are asking all time high prices with double the interest rates vs 5 years ago. Someone has to budge big time.

Also housing prices are downright insane. Who are buying all of these million dollar homes?

Its fricking ridiculous. The real estate market in this country is absolutely fricked and its because of women watching Joanna gains and declaring themselves architects.

It has no basis in practicality or reality. Its all about molding, trim, faucets, counter tops, and knocking down a wall to give a more open floor plan.

Its absolutely completely fricked.

I know how to build a house. How to do every single step except finish the concrete with my own hands. My house is built like a tank, super easy to maintain, energy efficient, practical layout - by every objective measure a damned good house.

Appraiser noted that the house was "of low quality" citing contractor grade faucets, formica counter tops, lack of molding in some rooms, other assorted bullshite.

Anything about 6" walls on 16" centers? Nope. Anything about commercial gauge steel roof? Nope. Needs fancier fricking faucets.

I hate the real estate market so damned much.

What does “headed toward a correction” look like? To correct, a market must be up, right? Are you just saying “it’s been going up, a lot, for a while”?

Pretty bland looking house for 1.6M. Still going with all white/grey trend from 5+ years ago.

Massive bedroom counts will soon be a thing of the past. The US fertility rate is at about 1.6, with the lowest for households above $100k per year. People who can afford big houses don't need, and on many cases, want them.

That's in Crystal Falls. I have a few friends that live in that neighborhood and I play golf there a few times a year.
It's a nice neighborhood full of $1M+ homes. They are sitting on the market much longer than before for some reason. A good friend of mine just bought there and the house had been listed for over a year. If I'm not mistaken, he told me they had lowered the price on the home around $200,000 before he made an offer.
