This is weird

I enjoyed working from home today and spending extra time with the family, but in the middle of the day, it hit me that this could be my working situation for an entire month.
Anyone else have this realization? Needless to say, I’ve been whipping our backyard into shape and we’ll pick up a big inflatable pool so we don’t get cabin fever.

I'm 45 and have worked from home mostly the past 15+ years. I have a one year old I watch most of the time. Home is fun and healthy. We've been assimilated into a post-fascist/consumerist state. You'll survive.

I kinda find it odd that in 2020 most people aren’t working remotely from home. Seems like the office/cubicle model is woefully outdated.
Maybe this will change the workplace paradigm?

I feel for the people losing their jobs.

Daughter who's a Chemical Engineer also working from home. She's done this on and off in a new job for a while. While visiting I observed this. She spent hours pouring over facilities diagrams. But she did not always spend eight hours doing it. My conclusion based on watching her is the company get's concentrated work but I'm not sure they get eight total hours. And she was able to help me with some of the home improvement projects I was working on. For those of you doing this, work as much as you can before moving to yard work.

This is the type of thinking that needs to go away. Pay for productivity, not hours. Working more hours shouldn't be some badge of honor.

I've been working from home remotely for my company for around 6 years. It's not as easy as a lot think, it takes tons of self discipline. You can't decide to sleep in, turn Netflix on or go do yard work on a whim. It does not take long for a company to see productivity is lost, trust me.

As long as she gets her work done completely, accurately, and on time who cares if she gets it done in 2 hours or 10?
