Universities have leaned hard on them for too long and now people are waking up to the fact that they really don't have that much power over them. I love it.

Some schools have an incredible amount of power over the fraternities.

At Alabama they own the ground the fraternity houses are built on and can revoke the lease at any time, which would leave the fraternity on the hook for the house note even if they can’t use the actual house.

Proud GDI and it's ridiculous what schools are doing to attack Greek systems. LSU has been at it for fricking decades.

Yep, no interest in them myself for any reason, but the attack the system is just more woke bullshite.

Academics will destroy the greek system and athletics. I've seen enough of how these people operate to know what's coming. They'll replace fraternities with social justice clubs.

I had no interest in buying friends either.

I got along just fine with no friends.

When one of my friemds who went to LSU would come back into town with his new frat buddies, I’d go out with them. They were all douches - every single one of them. So glad my son didn’t do the frat thing at LSU

Everyone who talks like this is a total fricking loser in real life.

If you didn’t want to join a fraternity, cool, I was personally in one and I never clicked with most stereotypical rich, country club, private school fraternity people- most of my friends weren’t/aren’t Greek and they still loved going to the parties and didn’t have a weird animosity towards my Greek friends though.

Every single person that I’ve met who actively seemed to have an issue with the Greek system was an angry little dorky looking social reject who didn’t have the social skills to interact with people who were different than them, and generally were jealous over the fact that Greek guys got with much more attractive girls much more consistently than non-Greek guys. Everybody wants to get laid in college and the Greek system is the king of walking into a party and leaving 2 hours later with a girl that’s out of your league. Sorry that you missed out

Here’s a little tip for you: if you think that “every single person” of any demographic sucks, you’re probably the dickhead or the loser in that situation

The movie PCU was so genius & ahead of its time. Watch it if you want to see what the future holds for universities. Hell ,it is what alot of universities are NOW.

I love how people who had to pay for friends, say this like it's an insult.

Not sure about other universities, but LSU has a crazy amount of power over the Greek system.

I've found the opposite. Some people need collectives, some people don't.

Way to cut an extremely out of context quote out of a long post to prove a point. I personally fall into the group that doesn’t need collectives, but that doesn’t change the fact that I objectively had a much better college experience due to the Greek system in spite of the fact that I didn’t like a lot of the people I met there.

Again, specifically the people who have an obsession with trashing every single person in the Greek system are fricking weird. I’ve worked with people who I got along with reasonably well then never said another word to me after finding out I was in a frat. Those are the people I’m referring to, and they’re a very consistently loserish, insecure group of people.

I was too. My dad was in the same one as well. Luckily, the guys in that fraternity were cool so I kind of had a in so I joined. What's weird to me is this concept from non-fraternity guys is that all of us are the same dorky, douche level high type dudes across the board. While some are, there is this thing called rush where you can get your feet wet so to speak. You visit a bunch of fraternities and you can decide which ones fit you as a person and the same with them. Weird concept I know. Kind of like an interview.

Eons ago in my college days, I belonged to a frat. We had a pretty good group of guys, most were from out of state, we admitted the first black member on campus and a couple of guys I suspected of being gay, they didn't come out until decades later.

I still stay in touch with many of them, we try to get together for lunch or dinner every couple of years.

The truth is that frat members are by any account, the largest benefactors to LSU. As students, their conduct should be judged no differently than other students.

Ok- let me speak it like a scientist then. Women are wired to be interested in easily identifiable status, safety, and credibility. That’s why they’re more likely to sleep with celebrities, athletes, doctors, politicians, their bosses, or even people with a lot of Instagram followers, and fraternities are a quick route to get that credibility. I’m not sure how any reasonably smart person who’s observed women for more than 5 minutes can disagree there.

What I said is objectively true. I’m sure you’re the only person at LSU who was such a fricking stud that you got with more girls than the guys who were having parties every Thursday with a 2:1 ratio of girls then having date parties every Saturday with hundreds of girls there. More exposure to pretty girls with less competition at a higher closing rate = more getting laid.

The fact that you took that as a personal attack and needed to call someone a douche over it pretty much confirms what I said about people who are insecure about fraternities lol

No, I’m not supposing he has much to do with it, comrade. YOU can rest easy. I believe your brave new world is moving forward unabashed with or without the assistance of some weird Hungarian oligarch.

Probably has less to do with them being in a frat and more to do with their backgrounds…

Same with the parties and getting laid. The frats don’t make that happen, money makes that happen

Agree.

Disassociated frats not on university property are the only way to avoid wokeness.
