No matter how bad she thinks she has it, it isn't THAT bad when your kid is wearing high-end shoes.
You have no idea how that boy got those shoes. Maybe a teacher felt sorry for him. Look, I know most of y'all are assholes, albeit funny ones. That's fine. I just hate when you act like you care about Jesus, too. It's the hypocrisy that burns me up.

Where exactly are they expecting CPS to place those children at? Most states have wayyyyy too many children in the CPS system and not enough foster homes for them to go to. CPS workers overwhelmed with numerous cases that many times the actual serious cases fall through the cracks of the system.
I actually made the suggestion earlier (in a serious manner), but it had the caveat that we'd have to fund the shite out of CPS and state and church run orphanages. I'd rather see my tax dollars spent getting these kids out of these situations than on prisons and welfare. If we're gonna throw money at the situation i want to use it to break the cycle, not perpetuate it

This. I don't understand why we can't cut some idiotic pet projects and just carpet bomb lower income areas with birth control.

Are you saying Jesus couldn't hit a curve ball?

I have to say this.....at least the woman has a job. She could have easily just been unemployed, sitting at home eating cheetos all day in hopes of getting more money each month in govt benefits.
And...she is 22 with one child. I've seen much worse at work...moms that are 22-23 with 4-5 kids already. That women could use some financial guidance and nutrition education....but at least she is trying a little bit. I don't see a completely useless lazy person in the video....I just see someone that lacks the education about certain things that could make life better for her.
They should have these moms take some basic classes to obtain food stamps. Classes that can teach them basic nutrition stuff...and how to make your money stretch more without buying just unhealthy overprocessed food.

I don't either but her plight is certainly overstated on the video.

Jesus said lots of shite, nobody can remember all of it. The important things are "treat others how you think they should be treated" and "make peace through war to inherit the earth". The rest is all filler.

I don't understand why financial literacy isn't a bigger part of the public school curriculum. Maybe people would make better decisions if they understood the value of a buck.

Minimum wage when I started working in 1970 was $1.45/hr. Currently it's $.7.25/hr. That would be a raise of $.13/hr over 46 years. In a country as great as this one is supposed to be, no one working full time should have an income below the poverty line. Big business is just using poor, uneducated people to benefit themselves. I find this sickening.

Probably not though.
The bottom line is that being Christian and believing people should do what they can when they can is not mutually exclusive. If this lady places her child before herself and is doing everything she can to better her situation, and she is still failing to get by, then she deserves every ounce of welfare she can get and then some.
If her SUPPLEMENTAL nutritional assistance program allows her to free up enough cash to buy her kid name brand shoes, she really doesn't have it that bad. Not sure how that's debatable.

Why doesn't she work more than 15 hours a week?
that was what I was trying to figure in my head is that she works like 15 to 20 hours a week to earn roughly 240 every two weeks.

Yeah there is no way that's a net check and she's getting employer benefits while getting minimum wage. Even if you assume FICA taxes are withheld, she's still barely part time.

Sob story about an irresponsible, young, single mother who's paying for her poor decision making skills. Do. Not
I care when the deduct nearly 700 $ from my check every week to pay money towards her and her kid plus pay for the father to be incarcerated ....
And almost all of that 700 $ goes to taxes , all except 35 $ for dental and eye and 100 towards an Ira ...

More than likely....that is all the hours her job is willing to give her. Most of these minimum wage jobs will not hire you full-time...because then they have to offer benefits. They would rather hire a bunch of part-time workers instead.
I have two mentally-challenged siblings that work minimum wage type jobs. One a bag boy at a grocery store, the other a greeter at Walmart. Both places will NOT give them a full time position...even though both of my siblings have been working for each company for over 8 years now.
Also...she could get a second job...but the way the system is set up...doing so would put her in a position to lose the govt benefits she has. She would lose money in the long run working a second minimum wage job.
She very badly needs vocational counseling. Being a single mom she could qualify for financial aid that she could use for some sort of vocational training. Maybe not even college....she could just get her certified nursing assistant license and go work in a hospital making $15/hr. Or go to beauty school, or learn medical coding, etc. Something to where she can find secure full time employment that has benefits.

This is the stuff i really don't understand. If I were in a position where I was making 7.50 an hour working 15 to 20 hours a week, I would get pell grants out the arse and go learn a trade that can help me get a better job. I don't understand the "whoa is me" attitude of sitting back bitching about my plights in life rather than trying to correct them. Yes, she is in a tough position but she put herself there when a 1.25 rubber would have saved her a lot of money. it hurts people's feelings to hear it because they "love" their kids so much, but if you can't care for a kid you shouldn't have one.
