How many cars you insuring. If you’ve got a few then you can use one to see if the multi line will work just with a cheap policy
I have four on one policy (The Hartford) and one with Hagerty for classic car insurance.

I would use that, but can I have two policies on the same vehicle? Regular insurance would value that car at 1/3 what a classic car insurer will.

General contractor. Majority of the work is insurance claims/storm damage/disaster related.

i'm deliberately leaving my auto insurance right now with my homeowner carrier even though i can move it and save money. I don't want to risk your situation.

Your prior Coverage A - Dwelling amount, indexed for inflation, would exceed our allowable Coverage A limit for your area, unless the household also has a Farmers personal auto policy.

Yeah that sounds sketch but I’m guessing that the limit is real and they just make an exception for multi-line in the hopes they make it up on the additional premiums.

In any event, probably a good indicator to move on. Insurance is insurance and you go with the most cost effective option. No hard feelings.

“Inflation” doesn’t change the risk tables, as they already increase premiums in response to them.

You can thank the new Insurance commissioner for changing the law to allow this.

You're referring to the law which isn't in effect yet?

Gulf States, USAA, Sure. I would not do Cajun Underwriters.

Progressive or Nat Gen or USAA for auto.

What is going on with this, had a relative with a different insurance company do the same thing to them.

It’s like it’s the new insurance scam to make more money off of you.

Call it whatever you want. If the premium they could charge was sufficient to cover the risk and make their business profitable, why would they want to drop him? The fact that they're dropping him suggests the risk outweighs the reward.

No you won’t. The new law says a company can only non-renew a maximum of 5% of their total policies in any particular parish per year.

Which I’d argue means that there’s fewer policies that would be eligible for non-renewal than there would have been with the 3 year rule intact. With the 3 year rule, every policy that was under 3 years was eligible to be non-renewed and I’d bet that those policies that the company had less than 3 years was more than 5% of their total book of business. Now there’s fewer policies that are technically eligible to be dropped, but the insurer has more freedom to choose which ones they think aren’t good risks to keep on their books.

Get the max auto coverage they offer on all of your cars. Drive all of the cars into the wall of your house. Profit.

Well, how does that encourage new insurers to come in if they can actually drop fewer policies over time?

Amen to that. I've been with them for 30 years. Service used to be world class. It sucks now... I had a lot of damage from the hail storm we had end of March and dealing with them has been a real PITA. As soon as I get my claims settled I'm shopping for someone else. I have paid them tons of $ over the years as all my insurance is with them.
