They didn't sell that well when new contrary to what some may expect, but that may have been due to GM limiting production of them so as to have more capacity for 4 door Tahoes and Burbs which had higher profit per vehicle.

I've always liked them but the short wheelbase takes a little getting used to if you're used to something like an extended Silverado or Suburban.

We got in to camping with our 4 kids over 10 yrs ago. We needed something that could put 6 butts in seats and cargo and tow 7-10k lbs. Suburban wasnt cutting it so we got a 2000 Ford Excursion v10

We are out of that season now so im selling it. Got it all cleaned up and I still drive it often. I priced a little high on purpose so if it doesnt sell I’ll just keep it. Having a hard time thinking about letting it go. Its just so reliable.

I have 3 trucks just for me.

I still enjoy driving the 05 Z71 extended cab I bought brand new. 210k miles
and beat up but i love driving that thing.

It's on its 3rd wife and 8th state of residence and still kicking. It's truly the only thing in my life that hasn't drastically changed in 20 years.

Here's a picture of the old girl getting work done today.

I bought a slightly used 2023 suv last year. It has all the safety stuff and bells/whistles.

I gave it to my granddaughter. I dont need all that stuff and my older car runs fine. I never even used the heated seats.

If you’re ever up around Marshall, Commonwealth Classics has an interesting selection of cars and trucks

They’re always happy to do test drives

I had an 05 Z71 extended cab as my first truck, had 293k on the stock engine and tranny when I sold it.

Those will be the next trucks that explode in value, much like the squarebody did and the GMT400 is doing now.

I like it. It feels like a truck.

Too many creature comforts and it's just a modern Cadillac for soft handed short men.

This is a great idea...for right now. In 7-10 years, those non gadget vehicles will mostly all be 20-25 years old. You really gonna use a 20-25 year old vehicle as a daily driver and to travel long distances for work or vacations?

Sure, why not?

I just took my 99 GMC on a 15 hour trip a couple of weeks ago.

You'll definitely regret selling it. My F-150 is a 2000 with the 2V 5.4L, the 2-valve modulars are utterly reliable engines with just basic maintenance.

With the prices of new cars, rebuilding an engine in a solid older vehicle is a good choice to consider. I did it on a 4cyl Toyota engine and have not regretted it in the least.

Absolutely agree, but there aren't that many Americans left who can or will work on them anyway. I was raised to think of calling a service tech or mechanic as a kind of white flag, but now you see grown men on the roadside calling for help changing a flat.

The really interesting part is that tool prices used to be the big obstacle to diy auto care. Now you buy serviceable versions of nearly any tool for lower costs than ever before (I'm aware that the high quality shite a professional would want is not cheap), but the number of men who can even turn a ratchet has fallen off a cliff.

I mean look at this basic beauty. Knobs and buttons. I even rock the in-console 6disc CD changer. No bluetooth. No auto steer. No defcon1 warning if a buckle comes unbuckled for a second
