If only there was a mechanism that would allow supply and demand to meet.

They have on-site tanker truck to refuel. They aren’t waiting in lines.

Nope. Fuel is a problem for everyone right now.

JFC I can’t upvote this enough. I’ve heard of several people running all the AC units, outdoor lights over 3 acres etc. trim the damn fat so we can get thru this shite. We get it, you were born with a silver dildo in your mouth. It’s okay to shut down your second home.

Supply at marketing terminals will deplete. If entergy doesn’t return power soon along with nitrogen and hydrogen facilities we will all be in a bind.

Well if we had a halfway competent state government maybe they could create a minute strategic reserve

Reserve of refined gasoline? How do you suggest they do that?

This is where the inverter generators with an "Eco" mode shine. as they idle down under low load.
My Honda 3000i on eco mode has shined over the past 4 days. Running the fridge, deep freezer and fans. By the end of today I will have used 14 gallons of gas

This is simple to fix. Each pump has a timer and a red light over it. From the moment gas starts flowing, the timer counts down from 3 minutes. At 0:00, the red light comes on.

And that's when the rest of us can start shooting.

Keeping that 36kW generator running or incoming fire. Your choice.

Taking to someone in transport, he is saying there is about to be a major shortage

I know someone that is a operator at Shell, ran into his wife at the grocery store in Ponchy this morning. She said he was told the same thing in a meeting before he got off work this morning. She tends to be kind of a alarmist so I took it with a grain of salt, hopefully it doesn't come true.

This is not accurate. I work for a fuel company. In fact, several refineries and terminals came back online today.

Some gas stations keep enough in the tank for their employees and emergency services.

Was watching an almost empty parking lot earlier and an ambulance pulled up to the pump. Within minutes the lot filled with people that passed and saw that.

Its alarming how far people are having to go to get fuel just to be able to go to work

No shite. I was 4 days on a 2k Honda when my brother's power came back on. So I went grab his big arse WH 7500 with propane and gas fuel. No fewer than 5 people asked me if I was plugging into the house?

I said frick no. I'm running an extra portable AC and my fridge more often. And set up lamps in the bathrooms for some luxury. But I'm trying to sip the frick outta gas while staying somewhat comfortable.
Using maybe 2k more watts than before / hr.

Guess this didn't go as well as they thought.... I know of many new gas stations on the westbank that have not sold a drop since the storm.

quote:

Governor Bobby Jindal has signed HB 893, introduced by State Representative Tony Ligi (R), which immediately requires certain newly constructed or completely rebuilt gas stations in Louisiana to be equipped with mechanisms to enable substitute energy sources in times of disaster.

HB 893 mandates that new stations be equipped with the capability of being powered by an alternate energy source for times of electric outage caused by natural or manmade disasters, so fuel will be more readily available in times of emergency.

"Someone in transport" was probably a contracted driver or loader. Not someone in actual logistics and scheduling for the transportation company.
