This board hates on BR, how would it feel about a Nashville/Austin influx?

The minimum wage thread had me thinking. Many of these people that complain that they can’t live on minimum wage live in some of the most expensive parts of the country. So I thought maybe they should come down to somewhere More affordable like Baton Rouge and give it a crack there. No shite it’s expensive to live in NY or SF. That’s why a lot of people sacrifice and commute in or just live other places that aren’t necessarily desirable.
So I was thinking. What if Baton Rouge has the Yuppy influx that Nashville and Austin have seemed to have the last 10+ years? Y’all shite on Baton Rouge now but somehow I think everyone would get a lot more defensive about it if there was suddenly a north east and west coast takeover of the population. Thoughts?

No one here will ever be happy. About anything. Ever.

You aren't a yuppy if you make minimum wage.

Everyone would be beside themselves about the liberals invading and bringing their politics with them.
That said, BR won’t have to worry about this within our lifetimes.

There has to be a draw for that to happen, br doesn't have unique culture EXCEPT for 7 Saturdays in the fall......other than that, its like any other mid-size city.

I lived in Austin for 2 years and the mental image of Baton Rouge becoming the next Austin is too bizarre to really think about seriously.
Nashville and Austin had dynamic and interesting cultures before the influx, that's why people were drawn to go there in the first place and eventually industry followed.
Baton Rouge has nothing like that to really sell. I don't mind BR nearly as much as some, but I also wouldn't want to be dropped in sight unseen in my mid 20's not knowing anyone.
Baton Rouge is a great place to go to college and a decent place to raise a family, that's about where it ends.

Austin TX Demographics:
White - 74%
Black - 7%
Nashville TN Demographics:
White - 64%
Black - 27%
Baton Rouge LA Demographics:
White - 38%
Black - 55%
We have plenty of "culture", just not the white millenial "culture" you want.

I don’t know if y’all have come to terms with this just yet, but BR is blue.

I lived in Baton Rouge for 8 years and moved to Nashville about a year ago. Nashville is better.. but not by much. I'd almost rather deal with the culture in BR than these fricking liberal hippies in Nashville. At least the food in BR is good. All we have is hot chicken here.

I'd give them North BR in a heart beat

this
i grew up in DS, so i knew plenty of people
but its super easy to see that if you're not from the area its hard to meet people, although br is a mid-size city and has many bars/places to hang out...people carry the attitude of a small town (very clickish)
unlike a true big city, it would probably be hard to meet people and have fun not knowing anyone

Baton Rouge is not half as bad as the people around here bitching about it make it out to be.
