I lived in Baton Rouge for 8 years and moved to Nashville about a year ago. Nashville is better.. but not by much. I'd almost rather deal with the culture in BR than these fricking liberal hippies in Nashville. At least the food in BR is good. All we have is hot chicken here.

I lived in Nashville back in the 90’s and it’s always been a bit cosmopolitan in comparison to the rest of the state and surrounding areas. Food was very forgettable I’ll give you that, but areas like Hendersonville, Gallatin, and the like are arse loads better than anything here for raising a family, and I’d have to imagine still very family friendly and conservative as well.

I think cities in general all over this country have been taken over by degenerates, and you can’t avoid that element.

unlike a true big city, it would probably be hard

It was easier for me to meet people in London than BR. You do have to join some type of "click" to get things going

So I was thinking. What if Baton Rouge has the Yuppieinflux that Nashville and Austin have seemed to have the last 10+ years? Y’all shite on Baton Rouge now but somehow I think everyone would get a lot more defensive about it if there was suddenly a north east and west coast takeover of the population. Thoughts?

Lafayette is already trying too hard, and failing miserably. Why pressure BR?

Hell to the no. I sat in a brewery bar in Nashville one fall Saturday to watch an (away) LSU game. Every dude in there had a trucker cap and a beard, and not one swinging dick besides me was watching football.

Don't worry, your shithole no one wants to visit outside of a few weekends a year won't be invaded by fun anytime soon.

Just about all decent sized cities are liberal. It's pretty much why suburbs exist.

Are they gonna replace the riff raff that destroys communities and drives up crime?

Baton Rouge is not half as bad as the people around here bitching about it make it out to be.

there are some legit terrible, objective aspects

crime
public schools
traffic

the cultural stuff is overblown, but BR's upside is very limited b/c nothing it can do can solve those 3 issues above anytime soon

Baton Rouge is a shithole. Turning into Austin or Nashville would be the greatest thing that ever happened to that shithole.

Sheesh. Baton Rouge wouldn't even be a top 4 city in Tennessee let alone barely behind Nashville.

BR was fine enough for three years

I liked the Southdowns/Garden District area

But yeah - it has all of the major urban problems with none of the cool areas or economy to make up for it. And it’s getting worse.

Everyone would be beside themselves about the liberals invading and bringing their politics with them.

That said, BR won’t have to worry about this within our lifetimes.

Right, because liberals, against all odds, have the sense to invade only nice places to live.
