My wife and I like doing day trips on a Sunday. We've gone in every direction except those. I've been down those ways but not in many years. Anything to see, do, eat, drink?

might be the most boring drive you've ever taken with your wife.

although.........when I take these drives, it's because I'm heading to the rig and would rather be home.

Grand Isle is certainly a better destination for this type of trip. There are better restaurants and scenery there than Venice.

Just drive the island and pick a place to eat then park on the beach side of the island and go for a walk on the beach.

Awful windy for a beach stroll or outdoor lunch. Good luck.

I'm hesitant to answer as I think you might seek legal recourse if my recommendation does not end well.

tl/dr: Seek competent legal counsel for advice.

GI is the better option for this. Stop at Leeville seafood to eat.

I have always wanted to drive down to Venice and never have. I have seen the end when on a cruise ship, but would like to pack a meal and some cigars and make the drive one day

Trust me, it IS like seeing the end.

Venice has all of the charm of a third-world oil refinery.

Unless you are using it as a base for hunting/fishing, then it's tolerable.

If you decide to go to Grand Isle and you drive through Golden Meadow, just remember it is a notorious speed trap. It's one of those little towns that supports almost its entire annual budget by issuing speeding tickets.

Last time I went through there the speed limit dropped from 55 to 25 with no warning and happens just as you come out of a long curve.

In the late 19th century, Grand Isle was a rather ritzy resort for the well-to-do. So, it is a rather historic place to visit.

Second that. The drive is quicker and beach is in better shape, especially next to the pier where they brought in new sand and built new public restrooms. No good options for beach day trips from our area but BSL >> GI in my opinion unless you are planning to fish.

Drive down to Venice was better before Katrina

Fort Jackson was pretty neat to see, not sure of the condition of it now. Haven't been there since Katrina.

Buras use to have a few decent places to eat. I miss Camps and Tops a lot. A giant arse shrimp poboy for super cheap from China Sea was fun too.

Black Velvet was good right after rebuild, but I haven't heard good things about it lately. I preferred the shite hole prior to Katrina for underage drinking lol.
