Things to do in Omaha

I’m going to Omaha for a baseball tournament before the CWS. The kids are staying with the team in a separate hotel so my wife and I will have some freedom to do some things on our own. I want to take my wife out to a nice dinner(more for me than her tbh) at least one night.
I used to live there from age 5-7 and had my 6th birthday party at the zoo so I know the zoo is awesome but that was 30+ years ago. I only remember going to Gorat’s as a kid and getting Roy Rogers and spaghetti and fighting with my brother with plastic drink sword things.
Hoping we get to stay a few extra days for an LSU game but we will see how the rest of the week goes.

Hit the beach and serpentine. If you stop you’re dead.
Dive duck dodge dip and dive.
Godspeed.

Hit the down town old market area for a walk at night. All kinds of restaurants, bars, shops, a nice park (it's been completely redone in last few years and is more family friendly now). Other than the zoo, and baseball, there really isn't anything spectacular that draws anyone to visit omaha because you can only do it in Omaha. However, there is pretty much anything you can think of doing available to do around there, traffic is never an issue getting around, it's a fairly clean cut and very safe city.

Not even 10 posts in and 2 of the recommendations are for crappy fast food haha.
Omaha kinda sucks. There’s not a ton to do - some bars and crummy restaurants (food ain’t great), zoo, and a Harrah’s across the river.

Omaha has a lot of good steakhouses. We went to 801 Chophouse and J Gilbert’s last year during the CWS and both were good

Supposedly Warren takes a 5 block walk around the Berkshire building every day he is in town around lunch time.

I would say it's average. There is essentially anything to do there as you could do in any other city.

I find Lincoln to be more fun than Omaha outside of CWS weeks.

Just two weekends ago I passed through Omaha.
After driving around and taking a look at Charles Schwab Field (Creighton had a baseball game going on) I drove down to the newly re-developed riverfront, which is called the Heartland of America Park and had a bunch of cool outdoor and indoor things to do, especially for kids. There's a 'skate ribbon' -- not a rink, but almost like a curving racetrack where you can roller skate in summer or ice skate in winter:
There's also playgrounds, a pier, museums (including the Luminarium, an active kid-oriented science museum), exhibits about Lewis and Clark, and a set of "big slides":
One of the neatest ones was the Bob Kerrey Bridge, a pedestrian/bike only bridge where you can stand in the middle and be in both Iowa and Nebraska at the same time:
All of this stuff is in a few block area, mostly free (you can rent skates) and easily walkable once you park (lots of free parking at the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters and Visitor Center right there).
