It is literally law in Louisiana. If you are in the left hand land, you can be ticket for going one MPH below the speed limit. This means that you have to either be pegged at exactly the speed limit, or speed. In other words, the law encourages breaking of the law.

I’ve posted about it before, and there’s an extra layer of shitty: you can also only be in the left lane if you’re actively passing. So if someone, anyone, is going to speed limit in the right lane, driving in the left lane is now utterly illegal. It’s one of the dumbest sets of laws I’ve ever seen

It is as if the 70 mph law is not law. Set the speed limit to 100 mph and you will still have folks upset about slow driving on the left
