So from the statements I'm assuming that she reached back, got hold of his taser, and pulled the trigger. So it couldve just as easily been his gun yet she was no danger to him?

Even if she grabbed his taser, she didn’t deserve to die like this.

Yep, yes she did. She is responsible for her own actions and as horrible as it sounds she deserved what she got.

Has the outrage started over this guy’s treatment? He was just high on PCP.

Another saint there.

Dont we just love these people in society who make shitty decisions and then expect everyone else to clean up their mess?

Me either, but her non compliance was allegedly taking his taser and trying to use it on him so that doesn't fit here.

I'm reacting to that standard, not this scenario.

I think my issue is most commonly with escalating a pretty minor situation into a deadly confrontation.

Cop pulls over car for some relatively minor reason, drunk/dumb/high passenger isn't compliant, and the cop stays engaged until the dumbass reaches for a phone at which point he gets killed. Assuming the cop felt threatened, he's probably legally fine and I'm good with that. It's still a stupid way for someone to end up dead, for a cop to end up on the hot seat and for a community to end up with unrest/distrust of police.

Again, not the cop's fault exactly, but it makes me question whether our commitment to arresting people for petty shite is worth the cost.

I'd like to know what the warrants were for

Her name was Pamela Turner.
quote:

Turner was facing charges for allegedly assaulting The Brixton Apartments manager after the manager had posted an eviction notice on Turner's door April 24, court records show. That same day, the manager tried to get her to leave the apartment when Turner allegedly grabbed the manager's face, scratching her nose and throwing her eyeglasses to the ground, court documents detail

quote:

Turner also allegedly slammed a log through the windshield of someone else's car days later, court records show.

History of violence. Hmm. Shocking.

Alfonso Turner It’s ok for you to Taser a person. But when the a person taser you back with your on taser, you pull your gun and shot five times. First of all how you let a person get your taser/weapon you are trained to not let that happen? How come when an officer lose their patience with a person it ends up with someone be killed. Why doesn’t a call go out to other officers to deescalate the problem. But what I see most of the time is more officers come and more shots being fired. I know the job is stressful, I every person you encounter isn’t the same. But somethings has to change by the citizens as well as with law enforcement. I feel like we are in foreign place sometimes. Now that the Government has made cannabis legal this only going to get worse. #havesandhavenots

So, I read the quote and she took the cops taser. Then she shot him with the taser and he returned fire with his pistol. Now, a women with known priors and outstanding warrants is the victim for assaulting an officer during an arrest.

For me, the issue with many of the cop shootings is this: When people resist arrest and escalate the issue by being aggressive, they increase their chances of getting shot.

The quote about the white woman is ridiculous. Acting like a fool and not following the instructions of a cop when being placed under arrest are what get people shot or roughed up.

If she resisted and got hi taser and people are still bitching about the cops it just shows how full retard some people have gone on the issue. Reddit is already melting about it like it's a game of thrones episode.

On the other hand, I just can't get behind a generalized standard of non-compliance=justified shooting.

If you had a holstered pistol and a tazer and someone took the tazer and used it on you, would the thought of "She's going to get my gun and shoot me" not cross your mind?

That is definitely the biggest problem, and blame generally falls on both parties for it escalating. But the law almost always comes down on the side of law enforcement, and the methods they use are seldom questioned or addressed.
