Where was Chuck's?

There was two Chuck’s. One across the river in Addis that had fish bowl beers and stayed open all night.

And another that was in the back of Tigerland. Cool little bar in the apartment complex.

Tiger Lair was another in Tigerland that was a great place.

Quarter beer at Murphy’s Tuesday with the cut off 55 gallon drum in the men’s room overflowing with piss and puke. Party gravy.

Knew Steve Bonfanti all my life and never once paid for a drink in the Bengal

$390.00 tuition check.

Smoking a joint in the Assembly Center during a Foghat concert and the next night picking up the roach from it at during an LSU basketball game.

I was going to say “run drunkingly through a cow pasture ripping your clothes on barb -wire fences after leaving Tigerland on their way back to Sterling” but according to Google Maps that’s still a possibility.

There was only one Chuck’s. And that was in Plaquemines.

ETA: fishbowl beers for 60 cent

Graduating but getting the sticker to put on old ID from current student. It got you in to baseball and basketball games for free. Damn once they started scanning bar codes.

Slipping on Murphy's floors after Christmas break. Always too much polish.

Beer trucks in front yard of fraternities.

There was a bar in the back of Tigerland named Chucks that closed probably 83.

And Chuck’s across the river was in Addis not Plaquemine.

I liked the place in the union where you chose your pasta shape, your sauce, and your meat and they sauteed it in front of you and boxed it up.

That and the place on the corner that only had 1 item each day. Thursday chimichanga day was the bomb.

We’re the same age I think. See one of my previous posts ITT.

Also blimpies Caesar wrap was good. Premade pasta salad was bomb. Pizza Hut breadsticks were a constant source of carbs

Laying on top of the Assembly Center roof that was under construction at night while smoking a joint (yep, I’m a boomer), living in north stadium dormitory where spraying lighter fluid under a closed door and setting it on fire usually got the attention of the occupants who, of course, retaliated. Running through the dorm section where the Middle Eastern students stayed and yelling, “Mohammed sucks”, sneaking into the Huey P. Long swimming pool at night, strolling over to the Speakeasy and listening to Potliquor, listening to Ted Schirmer at Free Speech Alley, getting a visit in your dorm room from David Duke who was very persuasive in his freaky , charismatic way, listening to the band Goat Roper at the amphitheater, grooving to Santana and the Beatles “White Album” on your dorm mate’s McGregor receiver/amplifier with the top-of-the-line Boze speakers, holding up cardboard signs with your buddies with numbers ranging from 1to 10 as the girls passed by your bench by the Student Union (I never rated a girl less than a “8”, by the way, they all looked good to me), being a member of Ted Schirmer’s PSA (Progressive Student Association). Never understood what we stood for. Just liked Ted. He was a cool dude.

Man, brings back my mid/late 90’s experiences...

Quarter oysters at chimes, calendars, 80’s night at
Varsity, that country bar way the hell over off Florida (what was the name of that place), alligator bar by Spanish lake was only place open on Sunday nights to party...we duck hunted out there too, chuck wiley’s big arse at Murphy’s, keg parties at every fraternity house one campus...place was wild until the Wynn kid died at Murphy’s in ‘96 on bid night, driving out river road and crossing the levee with keg/shotguns/case of clays, when duck hunting was freaking good at sherburne and manchac, dunking age flipping back and forth from 18 to 21 my freshman yr of ‘95, the brunett chick that always played the caterie, dinardo bringing the real Rudy to practice one afternoon for motivational speech, real tailgating/partying on campus when we used to drive out trucks over the curbs onto the grass under the oaks and then drove home drunk, living in the commons the first yr it opened...was a complete shite show and not completely sure how we survived, buddy telling us we should go try the chicken fingers at a new restaurant his buddy just opened up, pissing on the bar at sports and Fred’s while getting next round of shots/drinks, having a DL friend on the football team that was always out in case shite went down...back then there no cell phones to record somebody getting their teeth kicked in, cops just showed and said y’all get the frick outta here...damn, such great times. Made a lot of memories at LSU.
