Getting into LSU games (any sport) with just your ID.

Actually living in Tiger Stadium (and all that goes with that).

The mad rush to pull class cards.

Davis Duke in his Nazi getup.

I was at LSU many years later, DD was gone though I did have a neighbor who recalls him at Free Speech Alley (THERE'S a concept the current students wouldn't find acceptable).

- Being in line overnight to get date tickets for football games;
- Pulling class cards in the Assembly Center;
- Knowing how to identify and waiting for the person distributing the recycled class cards for that ONE section you need;
- Knowing not to stop at the first bursars station at registration to pay your fee bill;
- NOT having a comma in the check written to pay tution, room, & board.
- Writing a check to pay tution ;
- Pass Outs at football games to leave the stadium, resupply alcohol during halftime, and get back into the stadium;
- Unairconditioned dorms;
- Kegs at on campus parties.

The bowling alley in the union

I didn't even know that was gone. I guess it's been a few years since I have been in the union.

$6 student tickets

I think they were $3 in the early to mid 90's. It was $6 for student organizations like greeks, etc. Anyone remember what year they started charging for football tickets. I know they were free in the 70 and 80's I think.

Facebook was the shite in like 03/04 when it first came to LSU and was in it's original form. To look up people you were in school with. Or see how fat the girl you banged the night before was when the booze finally wore off.

Sitting on your dorm floor with your landline phone, speed dialing REGGIE when it was time your to schedule classes, finally getting through after it being busy 50 times, only to be told that section is full.

Also calling REGGIE at the end of the semester to find out your grades. His slow pace was pure agony.

Reggie was the first reason I memorized my SSN. Slow as molasses.

I attended LSU before either Reggie (the phone system) or Reggies (the bar) existed.

We had thick catalogues that listed all the classes offered, with the name of the teacher next to them... a lot of the classes who hadn’t had a teacher assigned to them yet had the word STAFF listed next to them.. one semester, a big group of us got together in Power Hall to go over class scheduling, and a buddy of mine- completely serious and unironically, said ‘Man, Staff sure is teaching a lot of classes this semester’... Total silence for a few seconds, then the loudest, longest laughter youve ever heard.. we still tease him about it to this day.

To answer the OP question:

- Seeing Shaq rolling around campus in his maroon Ford Explorer with the Superman “S” on the front grill
- running into Eric Martin (who at that point was playing for the Saints ands had been out of school for a while) at registration
- taking the twin mattress out of your dorm, laying it down next to Mike the Tiger’s old cage, and camping out for LSU’s basketball game vs #1 Duke
- later living off of GSRI before it was a scary, crime-infested area
- strolling into an LSU football game 5 minutes before kickoff, showing nothing but your student ID, and getting a great seat in the student section
- sitting in the student section for a game, then hearing your friend’s name, who was like 4th string on the football team and not dressed out, called over the PA system at halftime because Curley Hallman wanted him to suit up for the second half
- The Bengal
- the dollar movie theater right off campus to see Jungle Fever, Terminator 2 and City Slickers

back in the day, SSN was used for everything, no security issues, profs would post final grades listed by SSN on walls

Natty Night at the field between the Natatorium and Nicholson. Endless kegs of Natty Light the night before one of the home football games each year. Bring your own cup or buy a solo cup there (donations optional) and fill up as much as you want. Was just one big party. I'm not sure when it started, who paid for all the kegs, or how long it went on for. I know it was going on in the 00's. Would love to know more details if anyone cares to share.

Tuition and fees so cheap you could pay your way through school working 15 hours a week at a minimum wage job.

easily, 12 hours or more was $244 when I was there, was making $800/mo. as an IM ref supervisor, also was working at the Bengal, the Caterie, and Mike Anderson's, I was rolling in dough! actually initially took a pay cut to go fly jets for my uncle right after graduation

Does anybody remember Ruth and Jim's Country Place just inside of Iberville Parish? This joint was a favorite haunt when all the bars in Tigerland closed. What about the Alligator Bayou Bar? This place, and Tabby's Blues Box, were favorites for Sunday nights.
