That's what you think. But I have news for you, your daughter is up to some no good shite. I'm sorry you had to find out like this.
(Just in case you're someone who's sarcasm sensor isn't functioning properly, I'm joking. But I still don't understand how they drove 5,000 miles in four, or even five days)

Yea, I don’t doubt the overall story but the mileage issue is super sus.
That said, your out of warranty 96k mileage car doesn’t suddenly fall off a cliff in value at exactly 100k…

That’s impossible. That’s almost 18 hours of driving every day at 70 mph
I had a girlfriend who put 1,300 miles in 3 days on my car. I let her borrow it while I was away at work. I reset the trip since she had been a bit sketchy. She assured me she was just "looking for a job". I said, where? Canada?"
We broke up shortly after. I dodged a bullet though.

Did they drive 400 cases of beer from Texarkana to Georgia 4 times in 5 days?

It’s a 2016 Honda civic touring. The repairs are estimated to be 10,465 dollars.
You won’t be able to claim diminished value against your own carrier. That’s usually excluded on your own policy.
Looks like NADA for that car is $17,400. Car is totaled at 75% in LA which would be $13050 in damage. You need to find about $2500 more in damage.
Did you bring to insurer’s body shop? Bring to your own for second opinion. Also, tell them you suspect insurer is cutting corners on repairs to avoid totaling. There are a lot of items you will see on the estimate that are judgment calls made by adjuster. Some states require them to identify those (look on your estimate for this). Example, they will say we are going to repair a wheel rim instead of replace. I’d fight those judgment calls as much as you can to get the repair’s over the threshold to total the car.
Also, it’s very common for more damage to be found after they take the car apart. I’d instant on them doing that before authorizing repairs starting.

We took it to team collision (Honda) but they said they don’t write for Safeco
I’ll bring the car back to them tomm with the estimate from the other place and ask them to go over it

Why would they change the odometer
Posted on 8/1/23 at 8:22 pm to berrycajun
I’m a mom with 5 kids. I can’t even change my oil. I did learn however to add oil when my oil gets low :)

5000 tough miles in a few days, some or all at excessive speed. I'd also push the mechanical damage angle because who knows how trashed the transmission and engine is after that abuse....

They probably going to total it

I think the tire place meant to write 98k and bad handwriting led to 95k being recorded
2000 miles is more believable

Good point. I’ll have her check her last receipts from Honda

It took our boy 26 days to drive less than 10,000 miles around the country in a Porsche while these guys are doing 5,000 miles in less than a week in Baton Rouge.
Our Porsche guy needs to step up his game.

I’m picturing her trying to shoot a gun out her car now. Lol
She can barely walk and talk at the same time. She knows this so she doesn’t drive and talk on the phone at the same time. This is why we got her a car that has all the safety measures - the lane stuff etc etc. i thought it was overkill, but my husband insisted. She’s our little uncoordinated nerd…So we think ;)

You mean the local agent?
Yes the agent that sold the policy. If you don’t know it should be at the top of the Dec page. You can also log on to the Safeco app and it has a button to click for your agent.
Honestly the adjuster not calling you back same day is enough to get the agent involved.
