Thats the stupidest place to put one of those circle jerk thingys. Way too many roads connect there especially with Jackson being a truck route. Horrible idea from dot and idiot mayor to agree with it.
I heard they cause tornaders.

That said I accidentally drove through Youngsville around 5pm one day and it was terrible. They basically become a 4 way stop.
As bad as Youngsville's traffic is, it would 2x worse if they were lights.

That is the perfect place to put them. That is literally what they are designed for. Louisiana just has too many nonfunctional alcoholics who think they’re functioning alcoholics.

Roundabouts should be built only on 2 lane roads thereby having only one lane completely around the roundabout. Thats the only way most drivers can navigate them.
Why can drivers all over the world including Mississippi and Alabama figure out how to use them, but Louisiana drivers can’t? My sister in law has had two wrecks in the one in Rayville because she can’t grasp the concept that the car already in the roundabout has the right of way.

I told our parish prez at a town hall he needs to use the newspapers and Htv and put " how to navigate a roundabout " instructions and videos repeatedly for at least a year to show folks that don't know.
You’re making two big assumptions. The first one is assuming that people in Houma can read. The second one is assuming that they care enough to actually learn how to use them.

Apparently there's tons of complaints about them.
People in Louisiana would rather complain about something than learn how to adapt and fix the problem.

When I was a kid, people talked about driving through the Alexandria traffic circle like they had hiked the Grand Canyon. “Have you seen that thing? It’s incredible! I wasn’t sure we’d make it out of there.”

I'm pretty sure when they built the ones in Walker, the news actually came out and did a story on how many LP residents wanted them removed and a light put back in place

To those who don’t know how to drive around one, when entering the circle, the right lane can only turn right at the first exit or go straight through the second exit.

I am without a doubt a functional alcoholic!

The main blvd didn’t have any stop sign.
The truck route lane had to yield to get onto blvd.
The 2 side streets had stop signs getting onto blvd. those side streets have minimal traffic.
No one here will get me to believe this location needed a damn traffic circle. There was never any traffic build up before or wrecks.

Shows how dumb this circle bullshite is.

Proper signage would be "first exit blank street, second exit blank street etc

I’m looking forward to the statue of Donald Rouse the city is putting in the middle.

Two downvotes by people who have no idea how this thing works.

Being from sort of out that way, this will be referred to as "the New Traffic Circle" for the next 20 years.
only until they put the one in at Percy Brown Motor Speedway and Acadia Road.

People have a hard time navigating the one by Nicholls, can’t imagine how bad this one is.
The one by Nicholls is a joke and to be honest, it's a pretty shitty design. It's too tight and yes, you can drive right over.

My proposal to fix this is they put an officer here 24/7 writing tickets to people not using this correctly until the problem corrects itself.
While i'm not wholly against this, there needs to be more/better signage. There needs to be big arse signs several hundred feet in both directions on canal saying YIELD TO VEHICLES IN CIRCLE! and FIFTEEN MOTHER frickING MILES PER HOUR IN CIRCLE!
But you're right, the Canal Blvd traffic is still thinking they have the ROW.
Personally, I love the traffic circle in that location. You couldn't get from GTPeltier to Thompson road (next to cleaners) before, now you can, very easily. You also had to Kamakahi across canal to hope to get a spot in the turning lane to go onto jackson street. I use it a TON and it's so simple! But i'm also EXTRA SUPER careful that some a-hole is going to tbone me because they don't know to yield. Or if i'm behind some grandma that thinks if you're in the circle you have to stop. Move bitch, get out the way!
And yes, what's up with the light on canal by what is that, Menard?
And holy hell did DOTD frick up traffic on 308 coming from up the bayou with the new signal and timing at the light by rotolos (St Patrick/Jackson St) It doesn't allow enough time for the left turning que to turn and that just backs up after a few cars which in turn backs up all the way to north thibodaux.
and all of the above pales in comparison to the Godzilla sized shite storm they're about to unleash when they shut down the canal street bridges for replacement.
