The government’s green energy ambitions have been dealt a blow after plans for a giant offshore windfarm off the Norfolk coast ground to a halt due to spiralling supply chain costs and rising interest rates.
The Swedish energy giant Vattenfall said it would stop work on the multibillion-pound Norfolk Boreas windfarm, designed to power the equivalent of 1.5m British homes, because it was no longer profitable.

Is this not the same argument by the climate bros about the motivations of the oil companies and the connection to global warming?

I know, right? We've had nuclear since the 1940's and we keep being foolish about it. Tilting at windmills and trying to get every house to have solar. Reminds me of Chairman Mao's attempt to make every farmer into a steel smelter. That worked out so well...

What is interesting is they get 25% of electricity from wind, buttge kicker is they pay more than double the US

You got that right. And a lot of views by the Wichita mountains as well.

I'd rather see oil rigs.

Except considering the overall total environmental impact is worse and reduced reliability is a constant problem but A lot of money was grifted in the process so they have that going for them, which is nice.

So sucessful they are pulling the plug on massive projects under construction. Whatiknowsofar suffers from an acute IQ deficit.

Why did you quote a remark about inefficiency and provide no substance. Just because the bulk of their energy comes from wind doesn't mean it's efficient or even a good idea.

Oklahoma's views have been ruined by windmills too. The sad part is easily 30% of them are broken.

The impact of one coal plant is much lower than fields and fields of solar panels, or wind turbines.

The ocean tides never stop, or at least won't until the moon is no longer out there.

Driving to Omaha for the CWS I was unaware of how many wind farms there are here. It looks so dystopian in some areas.

How does one “renew” wind? What are the successes and at what cost?
Full landfills? Killed endangered birds? Completely unreliable power source? Ruined landscapes? Destroyed crops? Inefficient power generation?
Yeah, so successful.

Solar farms are an even bigger eyesore and less efficient. They’re being put up all over American farmland.
We’re one of the biggest countries there is. I think we’ll be ok. If they were putting solar farms on farmland, it would be farmland and not available
Remember a lot of us don’t give a shite about views, that’s why we go on vacation. I’ll take cheap power 9.9 times out of 10
