Having these kind of statues is an example of celebrating. Also, considering when these statues were either created or brought in from other countries (primarily in the post Civil War era) these statues were part of a broader objective of upholding white supremacy during the lily white movement, an actual movement that began during the late 19th century, which was basically backlash towards economic progress of black people at that time.

Can you provide proof of this? Or is this all part of the bullshite 1609 Project?

Because you make it a point to display your intentions here daily. Be grateful people still bother to engage you despite your making it so obvious you know so little worth discussing.

You’re a boring little man.

The Kennedy Administration. They reached a deal with him to where he got rid of some of the commies running his organization.

I mean if you had any knowledge of history, as you're pretending..

Just no room for nuance for some of you people.

This is rich considering it's coming from someone who wants to rid the South of monuments and statues of important historical figures because of who they are. Even in crazed politically correct Europe, monuments to losing causes are commonplace, especially in the UK, the place from which most Southerners are descended. There are Royalist memorials in every corner of England that celebrate the Cavaliers, who lost the English Civil War to Cromwell's Parliamentarians. There are monuments throughout the Scottish Highlands glorifying the Jacobite cause, which wanted to replace the constitutional monarchy with a Catholic absolutist monarchy and was forever vanquished at the Battle of Culloden.

Other than believing white supremacy is a good thing, what are your political beliefs?

Not that anyone gives a frick, but this is my thought on all of this.

I have no problem with the removal of confederate statues being removed. The confederacy was absorbed by the union. They fought against the union and lost so I think there is some anti-American parts of it.

Do I give a frick if they are removed or not? To be honest, I rarely notice statues in parks or in public places and if I do, I never pay attention to who they are.

One was moved at the Iberville parish courthouse about a year ago. I worked there for 3.5 years and had no idea it was there. But I can tell you, that was a 100% political move. In short, the council voted to have it removed because they were told that if it wasn't, black folk would protest.

Come to find out, that was told to the council so that local politicians can use it to play both sides. They tell the blacks that they decided to get that confederate statue removed because it shouldn't have ever been there.. That gets them the black vote. Then they tell the white folk who get all worked up about it being removed "I tried like hell to keep it up, but they had my hands tied. The council voted against it and there was nothing I could do. But don't get upset about it just yet because I am going to try to get it put back up".

When something actually gets done, that's because there is a politician who has something to gain by it getting done. The medium age in the US is 38.1 years old, most people in this country wasn't even born when these things went up.. Yet all of a sudden people start caring about them?

Anyway, just build a big civil war museum, but these statues in them and people who are interest can go to the museum and learn more about the people the statues are of. Because honestly, while I think most black folk are like most white folk.. They pay no attention to these statues, its something that has always been up. Like a tree or some building.. Its just something that has always been there. But if you are going to point the finger at anyone.. Point it at the politicians.

It benefits them when people are divided. That allows them to play both sides.

And the state submitted to the central government when it ratified the constitution, thus nullifying the weak central government provided by the articles of confederation.

This states rights argument was dead in the water 70 years before the war.

ETA: It's revisionist history that's being pimped out by people who cling on to anything to justify the rebellion.

Sympathetic Southerners should read Albert Taylor Bledsoe’s Was Davis a Traitor, among other things, and make up their own minds about to what extent the States “submitted to the central government”.

Culturally, yes, that's the southern model.

What other states do is their business.

But these people aren't Virginians. They're from New York, and Massachusetts. They're from California. They're not taking down statues their ancestors put up, they're destroying the statues that Virginians erected, in memory of the dead, more than a century ago.

We didn't change our mind about anything
