Geez, do I have to answer all the questions for you? Give these three some loose change totalling about two or three dollars. Have them go up to Gramps and give it to him and say, "could we please have some heat tonight? Here's some of our piggy bank money for the power bill."

I have no sympathy for people complaint about it being too cold. You can always add blankets and clothes. But when people keep their house too hot, guests can’t do anything

I have the opposite problem. My MIL and her sister feel completely at ease messing with my thermostat. Yesterday, one those old hags bumped it up to 75. In the summer, I've seen it as low as 62.

My last incarnation of an S/O, her family would crank that bastard up to 80 when they would come to visit. Drove me nuts.

My granddad has a fire going every day and a box blowing the heat all over, I guarantee his house was 120 degrees yesterday.

frick all that. I would have had to say something. And if they wouldn't turn it down, I'd bitch nonstop until I was either asked to leave or it was turned diwn.

Same here. My in laws keep it at 78 with the fireplace blazing. During the winter I go in shorts and a T-shirt to their house.

The cold doesn't bother me, it's just when it's too hot and suffocating.

I don’t care how cold it is outside, we do not sleep with the heater on ever. Plus, it’s not good for young children

I opened this thread thinking it was going to be complaining that it was 80 in the house.

Before my father-in-law died I'd head up to his house to help him out when he was sick and couldn't do stuff for himself. In the winter he'd keep the house so hot I often had to walk outside on the deck just to cool off. I'd be sitting out there in 40 degree weather in a t-shirt and shorts and he'd think I was nuts.

Not only was the house hot, but the air inside was so dry it would kill my sinuses. When I slept, I'd close the door and open a window to let cold air in the house.
