Stumbled upon their Facebook page one night and some of the recoveries are great. That Morrvair is sweet too.

I’m not sure it’s a traction issue. I think he bottomed out

That's what it looks like to me as well, spun out all the rocks from under the rear tires, now its sitting on the bottom of the truck framework.

Blackbear is no joke. I was on a trail not far from that area that's pretty similar (aka super exposed) back in 2019. Had a party of 12 FJs come up the backside opposite of us and insisted they had ROW. Ended up having to reverse 3/4 of a mile on 3 switchbacks until we got to a turnaround. My Fitbit said I burned 500 cal in an hour

shoulder fired smooth-bore recoilless gun.

Nope

It’s fricking intimidating is what it is. That first part where it’s narrow as hell and you have a rock face to your right that doesn’t let you get over with the damn creek below you to your left. I remember the clouds were below us and we’re looking straight down into Telluride. It feels like you could fall all the way down the mountain. Then you hit the switchbacks and it feels like they are too narrow for you rig. I was constantly asking the wife how much room I had before my tire would reach the edge.
Looks like the dude in the 4Runner could have used a co-pilot.

I Love Colorado. Off roading is so different from down here in Louisiana. Not many big jacked up F150s etc up there. Colorado Jeeps, Tacomas (not over Jacked up), x Teras, four runners, and Subarus

Did drive a GMC Yukon way back down a trail crossing a few creeks to camp about 12,000 ft. That was fun but a smaller vehicle would have been so much better.

If it had the Tacoma crawler mode, this wouldn’t be an issue.

I can’t say much cause my 2500 is heavy AF and i would probably be sitting there just like that

Check out this video of a Jeep falling off the trail. It shows just how narrow Black Bear pass is and that first 3 point turn I was talking about. The guy driving caught the Jeep falling down the mountain in front of him. This is why you don’t wear your seatbelts when doing this trail. The woman whose Jeep went down the mountain was ejected and survived but is paralyzed. Unbelievable she survived.

If it’s stuck on private property…how long before the landowner can consider it abandoned?

That stuff is very loose and will just start sliding down the slope. That’s why they’re stuck because if that stuff starts sliding down the truck will go with it.

Had it been mine it would now belong to my insurance company and they would have to sort out retrieval at the bottom of the hill it rolled down while I was pissing.

It doesn't look THAT stuck. And how the hell do you get stuck on that hard packed shale?

Things like this make me wonder about some of you.

The issue is likely lateral traction. Guy was creeping along, and his tires spun. And when they did, it probably slid sideways into his current position.

Stop looking at the truck and look at the guys standing. That's your vertical axis. Now look at the truck. He's a twat hair away from taking a very long sliding tumbling ride.

Skip the mats, anchor the rear down on the left side, winch up hill at the front. Pray.

I’ve seen the aftermath of one falling off the mountain but first time I’ve seen one caught on video. It’s unbelievable.

This is the same thing I was saying. If you’ve ridden stuff like this you understand how close this thing is to going down the mountain.

Every auto insurance policy has an exclusion for abandonment. And any towing and recovery coverage normally stipulates that the vehicle must be on or next to the roadway.

Not to difficult to sling loads of 3500 lbs but I believe he is going to be closer to 5000 lbs. Doable, but you are right, it will be expensive.

Always wonder what they get paid for them rescues?
Now maybe the views can support the cost of them long drive rescues he does.
