In the jackhole's defense, it's probably a new fence (or he's insane). Those google streetview pics are from June 2014.
That being said, it's a fence. Don't waste your money on an intricate fence. Why? Because kids play, idiots run through them, the wind might blow it down, or a tree/tree limbs may fall on them. That's life.
