As someone who represents insurers in all types of cases, I can can't come up with a good reason why one would want to do business in this state.

So you’re a fricking lawyer in a state that thrives on litigation and opposes tort reform in any form? And you’re bemoaning the sad state of the insurance business?

Eat shite. You’re part of the litigation bonanzas that’s gone on in this state for years. Bet you’ve made a good living “representing” them, right?

Allstate.
After Katrina they denied claim after claim and when called on it they told Blanco they weren’t gonna pay and would leave the state. Blanco caved, I guess.

Coincidentally, 2005 is the year Allstate started donated to colleges for every field goal kicked. Probably the week of or the week after Katrina. And they have the nerve to brag about that after every made kick.

“Since 2005 Allstate has donated millions to CFB for made kicks”.

Everyone bitching about flood/HOA insurance costs and begging the government to subsidize it. Insurance is a business and exists to make money. Republicans or RINO’s? Free market/capitalism/etc.—do you believe in it or not? Do you complain about handouts but then suck on the tit of FEMA every time a storm comes through? I understand the bitching about insurance companies dragging their feet/refusing to pay out legitimate claims.

Living south of I-10 in Louisiana and expecting reasonably priced insurance is the equivalent of a heroin addict expecting a good rate on life insurance.

With the holocaust about to happen in courthouses in western Louisiana (and to be clear, some insurers completely fricked up their handling of Ida claims and should be popped), it's going to damned hard to get a homeowner's policy in this state for the next decade.

Crazy judgements coming out recently and carriers throwing money at it to avoid litigation.

This issue is $30k estimate is written initially by the cat adjuster for roof, interior and fence. A contractor gets it and has a $10k additional supplement; most of the time no problem.

But if a lawyer gets a hold of it they will write a $200k estimate and demand payment. If the insurance company doesn't pay within 30 days they can sue for penalty and fees. If the insurance company after going through the bullshite estimate and pays one dollar over what was originally paid the lawyer will sue for penalties and fees. The statutes frick over the insurance companies and the lawyers have quickly learned how to play the game.

Louisiana is fricked!!

ETA: and Donelon is sitting on his arse and letting it happen.

Minnesota also has some of the highest homeowner's insurance rates in the US. Same logic apply?

Storm Contractors commercials dominate local broadcasts like plantiff attys do in Louisiana. It is a big industry there. They likely are earning those premiums.

Since it’s under the state, is citizens/Louisiana not required to pay out claims? I thought they couldn’t fold like private companies.

My homeowner’s premium basically had an inflation increase this year and I made a claim with Laura. You just listed a bunch of shite companies with some of those being fined for how poorly they handled hurricane claims and their business.

The better companies are doing just fine. Typical LABI fearmongering.

Yes but Farm Bureau won’t write wind/hail at least south of hwy 14 in my area. I’m sure it’s that way in other areas too.

On point, this isnt free money. An insurance contract is a contract, read it. People may celebrate pounding the insurer but then your premium goes up or you cant find an insurer and the ppl complain. Look in the mirror, stop these juries and stop legislators acting out of pure punitive intent on insurers.

Is there anything that’s not a catastrophe? Seriously. What the actual f feels non catastrophic these days about life in America? I’m not talking about your spiritual life and family, I mean just general conditions and things you are forced to opt in to. It’s a train wreck.

We have a 9.5% increase over last year with State Farm. $3200 to $3500+. What you going to do...just paid it and moved on. I can't see myself moving away from them anytime soon. Too much uncertainty out there in the insurance market around LC.

Lot of insurance shills on here.

Insurance game plan -
option A - deny,deny,deny
option B - delay, delay, delay

Both options result in the insurance company winning. The longer they hold your money, the more they make on the use of that money, and the longer they hold your money the more likely you are to settle for less.

Reinsurance syndicates control prices. Offshore globalists. Insurance companies price in re-insurer rates. State departments of insurance know this and watch over the costs and rates, but domestic insurance companies are at the mercy of offshore globalist re-insurers. "Insurance" is another method to suck the life out of our assets.

Need to call State Farm. They will have a team working around the clock. Big enough to handle hundreds of thousands of new clients. They paid out on the spot after IDA. Company worth near a trillion dollars. Call them
