In this thread, a bunch of non geologists try to explain the history of the earth and fail miserably

Amazing how many people on here dismiss climate scientists

Not one offers any proof, only conjecture and theory.

Whatever, we're already screwed for having done nothing about this despite decades of warnings from scientists who said we'd experience more severe hurricanes, wildfires and winters.

You should listen to Joe Bastardi. He predicted you'd say this. Oh, btw, it's called weather patterns and can be traced historically. (What happened to the predicted ice age in the 70s?)

It's happening everywhere, but I guess it's easier to stick your head in the sand.

One of the coolest summers I can remember this year here in middle Tennessee.

Temperature and greenhouse gasses are one thing, but the most pressing environmental we're currently facing is the fact that we're killing our oceans with pollution, with China obviously leading the way. That will be far more devastating on a much faster scale than any other damage humans are currently doing.

Assuming you were alive when you typed this post that you never breathe from within inches of the exhaust pipe(s) of your vehicle?

Ever wonder if 300 million cars (US only and excluding diesel trucks, shipping and all forms of industry) pumped exhaust into our air all days of that might affect our world or health?

Me either

Mankind has only been around a few thousand years. Hardly anytime at all. In the last few decades however, man has created all kinds of modern marvels which have changed the climate. You can look at ice core samples and see the evidence. That shouldn’t be up for debate, but alas, it is.

One normal volcano eruption puts more CO2 into the atmosphere than the entire sum of what man has. This isn’t really debatable. How do you reconcile?

Got a link for that claim there, buddy?

I'll go first.... Scientific American says volcanos, per annum, account for about 1% of global CO2 emissions.

The obvious way to solve this is to build a gigantic plant burning some kind of fuel but make the exhaust pipe to the mesosphere. You build it bigger at the bottom than the top and then you creat a gigantic jet stream ejecting it into space.

Thank you — ocean and river pollution from waste, spills and dumping are more of an immediate threat and a more addressable one.

Heck, littering and pollution right here in river city is more pressing.

I'm theorizing those Inca human sacrifices on Misti Volcano polluted up the world just like the internal combustion engine does now. :jump1:

It’s always hot during the summer in Louisiana, of course, but as you have noted in Tennessee, this summer so far has not been as oppressive as many others. The many daily deluges have kept temps down.

We also had an overall milder Winter (one week excepted) and an extended Spring.

I mean, this is literally in your own link. Christ.

Not really. Especially when the two biggest polluters on this planet don't give a frick.

Every other country could minimize emissions but these two countries will never agree to

I completely misread that. I thought it said 40-100 million tons. I stand corrected.

Our summer here in Georgia hasn't been that bad at all.
