There are thousands of serial killers in the USA

In light of recent topics here, I went down the rabbit hole and found many theories about how there are many serial killers going around that most are completely unaware of.

We know of one that was haunting JP from 2005-2009. They likely moved or changed up their MO.

“Often these predators are preying on people whose lives have spiraled down, so when they go missing, no one is really paying attention,” he said. “Killers are hiding behind the opioid crisis.”
Widespread use of heroin, oxycodone and fentanyl provides serial slayers with a “smokescreen,” Holes said, allowing them to choke or suffocate victims with less violence than would be needed to kill the fully conscious — and to fool investigators, who wrongly assume that drugs are to blame.

It seems like the 80s and 90s were the heyday for serial killers and we hear about them less now.

I believe that’s true.

It’s not one serial killer. Multiple people were involved in the killings. Someone knows something, but won’t talk.

There’s more on the way. The US is quickly becoming the worlds prison

I read a stat that the average American will come in contact with 12 in their lifetime.

DNA testing capabilities, surveillance cameras , cell phones have ruined it for serial killers.

I don't know if that was haunting Jefferson Parish as much as being covered up. There were tons of rumors in that case around someone either close to or in law enforcement being involved.

Every time I go inside the truck stop in Denham Springs, I look around and wonder how many serial killers have passed through there. I-10 crosses from Florida to California, you have the sketchy motels all around the truck stop…creepy.

There may have been as many as 4-5 operating in EBR at one point.
Gillis and DTL got caught but there were a lot of single women who turned up dead in that timeframe. Main difference is that a lot of those turned up in NBR and snitches get stitches.

Most cities have well under a 50% murder solve rate for the obvious ones.
Only the dumbest of the dumb are ever caught

There are stretches of lonesome highways in the deserts and badlands, in the swamps and the marshes,
You only have a murder if you have a body, and these empty places just…swallow them up.
The sand and the mud…hungry gators. And all of a sudden it’s like the people never were.
Hookers and junkies and drifters, people who won’t be missed, whose meager belongings will be picked over and stolen by the broken packs they run with. The less dead.
So many forgotten bones in the wild, empty places, with wild empty faces.

Well we also allow for serial homicides by black men because we just let them out of jail.
