It's a volcanic rock that cleaves quite easily and cleanly (as it does on the Earth) and this one (in a field littered with others) did so in a way that catches the eye on a photograph - and it is about the size of a soda can.

Looks like it's just the tip of a very large pyramid which has been covered in dirt from the dust storms as heather has pointed out.

If one of these skeptics saw that structure on some desert hike, they would be freaking out and wanting to dig to see what was going on.
I think, subject to perhaps a little more confirmation, that they have discovered pyramids on Mars.

Who are you to claim what a skeptic would do on a hike? First of all Skeptics don't hike, we don't believe in it. Second of all, pyramids on mars is a ridiculous assertion considering that the Amazonians couldn't even cross an ocean, much less get to Mars.

Wow, you have this in reverse. There is 100% proof that Egypt's construction of pyramids was aided by non-earth complex organisms. This explains some of the hieroglyphics in the pyramids that clearly show, among other things, electrical systems. They could not travel to Mars, however, that is obvious. But, these extra-planetary beings could have used Mars has a way station and would have used the same pyramid construction techniques on Mars that they used on Earth.
OR MORE LOGICALLY
A pyramid culture, also using alien technology, existed on Mars when Mars was habitable (and it clearly was). Only if this technology was from out of this solar system could it have been transported to earth for use.
The real question is why haven't these beings come back, or at least come back and made contact?

I don't think the pyramids were landing pads. I don't think we're close to knowing what their use was.

First of all, I don't get things in reverse, I'm not ambidextrous. So what you're saying is that aliens took the egyptions to Mars to build pyramids? RIDICULOUS! Egyptions can't breath on Mars!
