Someone decided they needed my credit card more than me. Going into the holiday weekend.
I turn off cards to go and get new ones Tuesday. Even with plenty of cash I can't eat I can't do activities. I am limited in multiple places. I think any business that operates in the United States should be FORCED to take cash. It's legal tender for all debts public and private.

Who doesn’t take cash? I think they are legally obligated to accept it.

Pretty much all major sporting events are now card only. Airplanes as well.

Not sure how its legal, probably in fine print on your ticket agreement

Can you pay for a major brand hotel room in cash?

I've been in a few coffee and tea places that stopped taking it.

Was a weird sign to see. Bragging about being "cashless".

I have noticed a lot of places - primarily hotel bars, restaurants, etc. accepting cards only. However, they clearly advertise that at the entrance or register.

I’ve seen that in several cities in multiple states.

I think at the very least a lot of places are trying to work around it with "Can't take larger than a $20" or "Only taking exact change".

I've definitely had a fast food place once tell me they were card only. Especially at night. And have driven away as a result.

I’ve seen several places not accept cash.

As banking moves more to online only you can expect this to increase. Many people aren’t even members of a brick and mortar bank (online only).

*which is dumb. When something goes wrong, and it always will, you want someone you know to be able to help you

I’ve had the inverse of this happen at a McDonald’s in the ghetto. It was during a busy breakfast and the credit card machine was mysteriously “broke”.

I lot of places around here are card only now (Atlanta).

When an employee of Barcelona Wine Bar got murdered in a robbery a few years ago, it really kicked into high gear.

I know a lot of venues are card only (Red Rocks is one)

Private businesses are not required to take cash by law.
