Who is buying these things that cost more than a full on street legal passenger vehicle??? Who the F is paying $20-$40K for these things? And ski boats?!?! That's long been insane. Many ski boats cost more than the average house these days.
I’ve got a 2018 Polaris Ranger 1000XP single cab and went to look at getting a 4 seater 2 years ago and the Can-Am XMR 1000 was around 25k.
Ended up buying a 1971 Jeep Commando for $900 plus a 12 pack of beer from a buddy of mine.

People buying them and putting $15k worth of modifications on them, they've nearly replaced the entire snowmobile market from what I have seen in Wisconsin.
My town made them legal on all streets, so now people are using them as cars.
When they could buy an actual car for less.

I've never understood this. It's a giant piece of fiberglass with an engine on the back. It doesn't have to all of the highway safety costs that cars have, nor a fraction of the computer/electronics that a car is required to have.
Why are boats so expensive?

Not me. I purchased a used Can AM 1000 commander a few years ago that had some wiring gremlins. bought it for 3,000 dollars not running. 1200 dollars worth of parts, my brother had it running in a week.
My new (to me) Bass boat is a 2017 18' triton loaded will all of the best electronics, trolling motor and power poles for 28,000. Cheap because of the 200 HP two stroke motor no one wants. This boat brand new equipped as is would be around 65k
I don't buy new toys
Even if you can't fix one up, buying one just 2-3 years old with low hours is such a better deal/smarter decision. I like having nice toys and could afford one, but I don't think I could justify a 20K four wheeler.

Do they go over speed bumps at 0.5mph and swerve to avoid tiny dips, like all the dumbasses i see in 4x4 trucks?

No speed bumps around here.

Polaris’ stock has been doing really bad the last year. Honestly makes sense with this info

In Arizona most people either have a boat, an off road vehicle or both. In January the 1st big desert race of the year happens in Parker. After the race is run a group of us run 1 lap of the course, approx 135 miles. This is on one of the faster parts of the course where we stopped.

Could easily cruise down that road with a typical car.

I'm not sure how to tell you this, but some people can afford things.
Based on all available data points mostly only people who finance them over long periods of time at high interest rates.

True like I said the fastest part of the course, probably only 5 miles of maintained road. There are free range cattle on the course, these guys in a SXS found out the hard way.

My former town did as well, they’re not supposed to use the highway though but you have to in order to get to Kwik Trip for a cube of Busch Latte.

my bro in law bought a wakeboarding boat and the amount of electronics in that thing is insane. not just interior amenities either, things for the motor/wake and ride.
