Carmax, private buyer, or pitch it to a local Jeep dealership?

If I were you I’d start with a dealership over a private buyer now - never thought I’d say that, but I get a call every couple of weeks from dealership where I bought my ‘18 Sliverado wanting to buy it back. These are crazy times.

I want to trade in my sedan for something that can pull a small equipment trailer, but prices are all over the place. There's so much volatility right now in everything: food prices, gas prices, cars, lumber, housing, etc. I can't remember the last time this many kinds of products were all going through crazy fluctuations at the same time. 2008 doesn't seem like it was this bad.

KBB is saying my 2020 Tundra with 14,000 miles would go for trade in of $49,500-52,000. Sure I made some upgrades with a grill guard and cover. That can’t be right though. I only paid $44,500 for it in February 2020.

Most of our reservoirs are at 18% or lower. We haven't had a typhoon/hurricane in almost 2years and never had our monsoon seasons this year and last year. TSM which is one of the largest producers of semiconductors, relies on the power from the dams. They have tried to cloud seed but it really didnt work and we are currently doing on/off days with water shuts offs.

I had a guy follow me home and circle my block a couple times. He finally stopped because he wanted to buy my 2008 Tacoma with 145,000 miles for his son. He said there isn’t much for sale and what there is is overpriced. I’m not really wanting to sell because I really enjoy not having a car note. Weird

My mom just got $38k for her 2018 4 runner on a trade in with ~30k miles that she paid 40k for. Paid $7500 after TTL and got a 2020 TRD and hers was being test driven before she even left the lot and they had it checked in.

Looks like a fun car to drive, but a high hp dodge out of warranty scares me.

CarMax offered me $29,000 for my 2016 RAM R/T 2wd single cab. Only has 17,500 miles. It’s paid for, but I probably won’t sell it because I doubt I will be able to find a decent and cheap used car to replace it.

Well I’m gonna sell my dodge on Carmax. No doubt.

GM and Ford having serious issues pushing out new vehicles due to a chip shortage.

I passed by 2 dealers yesterday and I thought they looked empty and are they closing.

Very little new inventory coming in.

I might sell what I got for a profit from last year. Hard part is trying to find something to replace it. Otherwise it is a loss in my book. I have grown too accustomed to the Dave Ramsey no car payment life. I wish I would have done this 15 years ago.

I just bought a new 4Runner last week and it was nuts. I was looking for a used one and if you can find one that is decent, it almost costs as much as a new one, so I went brand new. When I was talking with the dealership they weren't giving much for my truck, they gave me a price and wouldn't move off it. So I sold my truck on Carvana and got about $4000 more for it. The only thing is I live in the country and was outside their radius so I had to drive about 15 miles to trade.

I've been browsing sites for the 4Runners for weeks and new ones are sold before they ever get to the lot. The dealer told me they're selling them before they even order at this point. Usually I'd chalk that up to dealer BS, but he's not lying, most dealers don't have any on the lots or they're there one day and gone.

My father in traded in his 2014 GMC Acadia in mint condition, 120,000 miles for $4000. He could have got way more for it than that. I hate when people screw old people.

4Runners with 100k miles are going for almost 30k. The used market for them is off the wall.

Yeah, I actually called some Kia dealerships about Tellurides and the one dealer told me that when they get them in they're having people get into bidding wars in the showroom over them, auction style. They're selling them way over sticker, I wasn't going to touch that with a ten foot pole.
