It’s that area I guess because I dread going over thr Rockies on my IAH-PEK flights. Get bounced around every time.

You sure seem to be mad about Charlotte being a hub. My brother/law flys 777s for AA out of Charlotte, and it seems to be an important hub for the airline. Majority of east coast base pilots fly out of the airport and live in the area. I am sure the weather has a lot to do why it is a major hub (with I’m betting tax incentives, etc).

AA doesn't operate 777s out of Charlotte. CLT is safe as a hub but may see a decrease in international flights. More east coast Intl going out of PHL now.

Sorry but closing MEM was a no brainer. Just like STL and PIT.

The approach into Albuquerque can be fun at times.

American Airlines did the same to Lambert in St>louis. Made a shite load of promises, lied about all kinds of shite, then left the airport hangin.

Southwest has come in and taken over a lot of gates, and been good to the airport. AA is a dirty company, they will frick any and every airport they can.

TWA was putting St Louis on the map as an Int'l airport.

Whatever the red eye from the west coast to Charlotte he flies. Also, he makes some trips to the Caribbean on occasion. They made the move from Indy to Charlotte...I am sue 777tiger can vouch, when he made the move, he went back down the totum pole and had to move his way back in the rankings.

Reno has the craziest winds of any US airport I've flown into.

That's the A320 family (757s back in the day on that route) with the occasional A330 down to the Caribbean.

Delta Air Lines gobbled up Northwest, and decided it only needed one hub in the South, its own base in Atlanta.

Damn son.

Delta fricked Memphis up the arse with this move here.

met a hot older slut in the Memphis airport. True story, we went into the parking garage (back in the days before 9/11 when you could come and go through security) and we found a dark corner and knocked one out, rather quickly as I remember.

I remember watching this one on pornhub

Damn!!! The tiny arse airport in Huntsville (only 10 gates and only about 4 of those are ever in use) is busier than that.

Yep. I lived in Memphis for a few years, lived 20 minutes from the airport and would drive to Nashville to fly out because it was soooooo much cheaper. Even with gas and parking it still cost 40% less than flying from Memphis. I remember seeing it was one of the top 2 or 3 most expensive large airports to fly from in the country.

Yup. They used to have a shuttle bus that would drive you to Little Rock to catch flights, because it was cheaper than flying out of MEM.

Also can remember booking flights that had a layover in Memphis and simply getting off the plane in Memphis because it was cheaper to do that than book a flight to Memphis.

Lots of information out there for you to research on your own. But, it can essentially be condensed into two points. Better business model Better customer service They have less overhead by flying point to point vs using a main hub (like Houston/Atlanta/Denver/etc). They also provide a better experience despite being cheaper. They return a 17% profit vs the industry average of 11%. 50% better than your competition is incredible.

You forgot to mention something very simple that sets southwest apart. They turn over their airplanes in between flights in 17 minutes, compared to an industry average of 47 minutes. Tack on that they load their planes 11 minutes faster. They really do just about everything better than their competitors

But Memphis deserved it. Their gate fees and taxes made their fares incredibly higher compared to the other airports around them.

It had nothing to do with landing fees or taxes, in fact, FedEx pays a disproportionate share of the operating costs.

Fares were high because it was a captive market and Northwest (later Delta) could gouge the local passenger, just like the used to do in Cincinnati and Minneapolis.
