The example I would use is how cops are hiding in the bushes waiting to catch YOU doing 5 MPH over the speed limit while a meth dealer is making meth behind the next bush.

It's also a great example of the lack of any kind of strategic thought around land use planning and infrastructure development. The school is sitting on a service road with no sidewalks or turn lanes. Carpool traffic has to exit the highway, then navigate a very tight turn to back track to the school or cross incoming traffic on an unprotected left to get onto Vaughn.

Even if they install sidewalks and somehow figure out how to add turn lanes to the service road in front of the school.....River Road or any of the cross streets would have been better places for this school to exist. And there was far more availability of land when Lukeville Elementary was constructed decades ago.

There is a gravel strip across the street from the school that is very close to LA1. I hope that isn't used for drop off for kids. THAT is a problem that could be a safety hazard. The city/parish need to build a barrier if they need that gravel strip for that. Or they need to curb it and prevent people from parking right there.

Legalized racket. Happens in many small poor areas. Trash people doing this.

I meant flashing signs during school hours, not speeding tickets

This is why I will never move back to that backwards arse state.

I have lived in 4 states and I have never seen anywhere close to the amount of speed traps Louisiana has

How is this different than the camera enforced tickets in Baton Rouge? They cannot prove who was driving the car. They can only send the ticket to the registered owner of the car. Just like the BR tickets, no way in hell would I pay that ticket.

If you don't pay, how will they enforce it? Are they mailing the tickets by certified mail? How can they prove that the car owner even received the ticket in the mail?

If they have a cop out there that is pulling people over for speeding, I am OK with that. This 1984 big brother crap is not OK.

So, they are telling Golden Meadow "Hold my beer".

That little town at one time was a notorious speed trap and they were not ashamed about it either. Not sure what's going on down the bayou today, but back in the 60's and 70's they probably set a state record for speeding tickets by a small jurisdiction.

Edited to add this: Just checked on-line and it's apparent Golden Meadow is still at it with BS speeding tickets and other BS moving violations from what I've read from people victimized by those A-holes.

I am from that area. So far no run ins with the GMPD. It is a rather small department, if anything major happens they usually get LPSO to handle the major investigations.

They just booted the current police chief and elected a woman as police chief.

I think the unofficial town motto is Drive Slow See Our Town, Drive Fast See Our Jail, but the jokes on them. They don't have a jail. If you get arrested they are shipping you to the LPSO Substation in Cut Off and then to LPSO jail in Thibodaux.

See, that's the thing. The horror stories I've seen on the net from people getting ticketed in their speed trap are mainly out of towners and especially out of state drivers.

The locals seem to get a pass by the Barney Fife's of their PD.

5000 tickets / 14 days = 350 per day

350/24 hrs = 14 per hour

That’s 1 ticket per 4.1 minutes

Actually worse than that.

These tickets were only written during school zone hours. So let’s say that is 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

That means:

5,000 tickets/ 10 days = 500 per day

500/ 4 hours = 125 per hour

So that’s 2.1 tickets each minute

Don’t speed and you won’t get a ticket. Pretty simple

That school is on a service road separated by a neutral ground. LA 1 should be able to go at normal speeds. School Zone speeds should just be for the service road.

Screw any city that survives off of speeding ticket revenue.

I truly wish the school zone by my child's daycare were enforced because there maybe 2 days out of the year BRPD pull over these crazy arse hats driving recklessly.

And it makes no sense to write tickets to people on LA1 there when the school is on a physically separate service road called Vaughn Dr. Now speeders on that service road are fair game. They should slow the frick down because I've seen kids walking there. And in Brusly's infinite wisdom, they've decided against sidewalks in front of that school for some stupid reason.

There is a clear as day school zone sign on the highway with a 35 mph speed limit near Lukeville. With that said this dude can eat a bag of d*cks. He better not be planning to run for reelection

Meanwhile, there are baws running around with chainsaws. It's nice to know, that fat, crew cut wearing douchebag cops are writing people up for going 30 in a 25 mph zone whoke making 500 per week.

I wonder how to get a refund. It was my daughter’s ticket in a car registered to me. They threatened you with it getting turned over to a collections agency. Didn’t want my credit getting dinged. Paid it like two weeks ago.
