Now members of our family have displayed an appalling lack of honor, a lack of respect, a lack of decency by doing something in someone else’s home that they would never do in their own.

The sad truth is that that they definitely would do this in their own home. Blacks destroy almost everything they come in contact with. They're all too often violent, disrespectful, destructive, and usually pretty stupid. Look at the neighborhoods they are the primary residents of. Look at most of their houses and schools. They only things they seem to value are their cars and their shoes. I'll be called racist for this post but it's the Gods honest truth. I know it and you know it.

not really, just a hand cut off at the wrist and they will be good to go. They will get off light.

Getting their hands chopped off will adversely affect their free throw shooting.

So are you disputing what I said? Am I wrong?

If so, please excuse me if I've never seen or heard of a neighborhood that has improved after going from predominately white to predominately black? My experiences are that it's quite the opposite.

I by no means are taking up for them, but I think the school should have never put them in that position. Stay in the US and play your games. This incident could very well ruin these young men lives.

I don't think China is going to take into account that they are basketball players. They are just going to follow the laws guidelines for penalties set out for the crimes committed.

There is a chance that money will change hands or that diplomacy will go to bat for them. The outcome will be interesting.

The fact that they are black in China already moves them to the front of the line regardless of how tall they are in China.

You don't think being 6'10" tall makes them even more of a spectacle in China? When you see a Lamborghini on the streets you look at it more than you would an average car. If it is on fire it draws even more attention.

Since it is on fire already, somebody is surely going to be looking if it explodes.

These kids knew they were spectacles and just didn't care. They thought their L.A. privilege would extend to China. It doesn't.

This comment will eventually get this thread deleted but it is 100% fact.
It has nothing to do with the color of their skin or their intelligence. We are all created equally.

It has to do with the black culture of single parent homes, no respect for authority, and promotion of the thug lifestyle. It's an endless cycle of poverty.

It's not racist. If you took several black infants with a mom AND dad who both worked and put them in a typical stable neighborhood - they would likely turn out fantastic.

Same kids in a project with one mom who is 17? They steal and do drugs. It's a problem that only the mothers and fathers of the kids can solve. It's not anyone else's fault and no one can help solve it.

If I am not mistaken, one of these players comes from a very affluent family.

LiAngelo Ball and two other players have been forced to remain in China as the UCLA basketball team left Chinese territory to head home this weekend. The players were not allowed to leave after being arrested and charged last week with shoplifting.
Freshmen LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill, and Cody Riley were forced to remain at the team hotel, the Hyatt Regency in Hangzhou, while the rest of the team boarded a plane to fly back to California on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

LiAngelo’s father, LaVar Ball, also stayed behind as the players face the Chinese legal system after being accused of stealing designer sunglasses from a shopping mall in Hangzhou.

Chinese officials allowed the players to go free on bail instead of staying incarcerated while the indictment is prepared, a move rarely afforded Chinese citizens.

But, according to some, the charges are very serious and could result in prison terms of as long as ten years. Ominously, conviction rates for theft in the Chinese system reach 99.2 percent, according to Hong Kong-based researcher William Nee.

Even worse for the players, sources have told ESPN that there is store surveillance video from several other stores showing the teenagers shoplifting various items:

A source with firsthand knowledge of the investigation said the players could be in Hangzhou for “a week or two.” The source noted that there is surveillance footage of the players shoplifting from three stores inside of a high-end shopping center, which houses Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Salvatore Ferragamo stores.

School officials are staying tight-lipped about the charges saying only that they are “aware of the situation” and are “co-operating fully with local authorities” on the investigation.

Bruins coach Steve Alford also refused to offer a statement on the incident.

Ball’s father, LaVar Ball, initially waved off the charges saying “it ain’t that big a deal.” But soon he announced he was not going to say any more about the arrests under advice from legal counsel.

It’s about a 6-8 month process from arrest to sentence. I expect them to sit in that hotel for a good 4 months before we do something to get their release.

Then again, China is getting strict with the foreigners again so they could go to prison. Who knows.

Well, now that they are back, any guesses on their punishment? I think the should be expelled from UCLA.

Of course they're guilty...they're on video.
But now Trump wants them to acknowledge that he got them home-he should haven't them stay there to serve their punishment. UCLA paid for their attorneys, bail, hotel, and meals while they were confined there-such a disgrace.
I have no doubt their "suspension" will be short lived and they will be playing for Conference play...such a shame. Can't believe we cater to a bunch of snowflakes that know what is right/wrong. So wrong!
