Shut up, bitch, keep my name out your mouth!
I have to work tomorrow so I'm only having 3. This is good for me. I'll blow less money in bars and my sleep schedule will get back to normal
Teaching is hard. Teaching is rewarding. People that think the job is a breeze don't really understand what it takes to do it each day, especially if you teach public school in EBR (fouldeliverer) or in NOLA (of which I'm guilty).

Home by 3:30?
Yeah, right
To be fair, I stay at school late because I know I'll get more stuff done there than if I go home.

I get 7 weeks of paid vacation.
If I wanted to use my vacation in the Summer then yes I do get a summer vacation.

And once school starts again, they can resume bitching about how they're not sufficiently paid.
I didn't get a 2.6 from the 12th best public school in my state just to make 40k!

Teachers get a lot more than 7 weeks off throughout a 12 month period.

They get that in summer itself not including holidays.

What about offshore workers? SIX MONTHS off a year and double the salaries. Why no bitching about them?

for the amount of school they go to, with the amount they get paid, and what they put up with, it really is a shite job.
I wanted to teach, that was my whole goal. Be a history teacher.
No money in it though. I can make double their salary fixing dryers and such 30 hours a week.

I just wanted to say that I will start my teaching career this fall. I have no complaints about what I will be paid.
To the OP, even though you're trolling: Since graduating from my Master's program I have traveled the country working on pipelines and in refineries, including -20 degree temps in North Dakota. So I can last 5 minutes on a "real" job. :csb:
With that said, if any teachers see this I need advice for classroom management on the first day/week of class. I have ZERO experience with this.

Bring a gun. Tuck it in the waistband of your slacks. First time one of those little frickers gets mouthy, just raise your shirt.
Try not to shoot off your dick.
It worked for me in my first year.

Don't assume the students know how to behave/act in your class. Teach the behaviors you expect and stick to your rules. Never threaten something you will not or cannot do. If you say you are going to do something do it!! And never, never show fear or weakness. They can smell it and will jump like a pack of wild dogs on a wounded deer.
Seriously, buy Harry Wong's book The First Days of School and study it. It is a great explanation of classroom management strategies.
Hope this helps

All good suggestions.
Also useful, positive reinforcement is far more effective than negative.

Real teachers that are committed, will kick your arse, now shut up. The rest are like you collecting a paycheck.

No shite. That's why you're jealous. You only get 7 weeks total.
