Suez pilots have a bigger racket than River pilots. First they demand 5-10 cartons of cigarettes usually they have to be Marlboros. You also have to have an Suez electrician to operate the Suez light which is hardly ever used. They also try to bring on 5-10 other people to sell goods but that is just a cover to steal the brass firefighting nozzle
I take it you didn't run the ditch in a large US Navy vessel

I am certain it was much more precarious back in the day when Carriers still had "special" weapons(prior to 1992).

Yeah, I mean it's not like they are trying to blame the migrant crisis on Trump, or the COVID deaths, or every shooting, or every wildfire, or every natural disasters, etc. But sure, I am insufferable lol.

My guess is one of the tugboats helping steer either broke down or came loose and the other one kept going causing it to go sideways

I’ve been seeing this out there as the path it took before heading up the canal. Wondering if all of this was intentional.

I mean they did the Full Dick&arse. Impressive.

That's really all you need to know about the dude.

In all my passes through the Ditch on carriers, I never heard it referred to as the Marlboro Canal.

I’ve been through on regular merchant ships and USNS ships. There is a big difference in how each is treated on regular ships you have to kiss up to the port authorities because they have the power to delay you which will cost a lot of money. On the navy ships we entered last so we didn’t have to anchor in the bitter lake, and were the first ones out of the ditch.

On one of my USNS ships shortly after the Iraq war started a pilot refused to assist saying f-George Bush etc. our Captain said f-you we will do it ourselves. I didn’t have a lot of faith in the Captain’s seamanship and luckily the Chief Mate talked to the pilot and they worked it out.

Noticing patterns yet?
EVERGREEN nursing home in New York burned to the ground today.

And now a massive cargo ship is blocking the largest cargo lane in the world. The name? EVERGREEN.

Except....that's not the name of the ship.

Also, that fricker is wedged in there. They need to either get some people off to lighten the load or get them jumping up and down on the end that's not stuck to try and lift the stuck end out...like when you lose track of time drinking on the sandbar and your 25 ft center console gets stuck because the tide is going out.

Honesty props to the suez pilot. Once you lose power, your best bet is to beach the ship. This is on the ship’s engineer.
