Casinos everywhere are about to make up for lost revenue with a quickness.

have past due child support payments that the states have reported to the Treasury Department

Is it common for some states not to report this?
It's somewhat complicated with my cousin, who went through a divorce, that her ex was supposed to pay something, but he never did. They kept trying to take him to court, but he always weaseled out of it.

I believe so....

Under a 1996 law, the Treasury Department operates a program that allows it to collect overdue child support by cutting or withholding federal payments as an offset. State child support agencies share information with Treasury about people who are behind on payments, and the amounts.

But I was counting on that for my 30A trip when the COVID-19 breaks. That's a party I don't want to miss. Guess I'll have to rob another convenience store for that.

I’m torn on this.

For every “dead beat dad” there is a lying, cheating, social media queen that uses her kids as leverage to win sympathy points from her weak minded stable of cackling hens.

Meh...

My wife's ex is behind well over $50k...total deadbeat dad. He is the definition of deadbeat. He won't even get a job just so he doesn't have to pay. The child is now 18....he hasn't seen her in about 8 years. The child now hates him. What a shame. 50 years old and lives with his parents.

And King Crab Legs! Don’t forget about the King Crab Legs.

I was amazed by the run on crab legs with the Katrina debit cards.

Essentially it's loser people on both sides.
I think child support payments should go somehow, directly to the child, so momma can't blow half of it on shite for her.

My ex wife owes me about 30K. I never went back to court to enforce because I really didn't need the money and was happy I had custody of my daughter. Point is there are dead beat ho's out there as well.

No doubt about it.

She doesn't need his money. We do very well. It's the principle of it for her. He agreed in court to pay $400 a month toward his child's health. That's it! He even moved out of state to make it harder to collect. The guy doesn't work to avoid paying $400 a month...unreal.

Only way I can think of to do that is to set up child support arrangements as some kind of trust managed by the state, who would disburse money and track what it’s spent on.

Then everyone would complain about how much is being wasted on administrative costs.

This will keep a large segment of a particular demographic from getting any money

It’s considered an offset, so yes it would go to the person owed child support.

How about they give the money to whom this person owes.

That’s what they are doing. It is an offset, meaning the money will be diverted to the person owed.

Good.

I know it won't- but I wish this included members of Congress and anyone else poised to receive a taxpayer funded windfall.
