The entire point of that paragraph was this subtle brag

Cool story this was the only shuttle to perform an unmanned flight and landing.

There are more stories of the that lander coming back to earth a hot mess. So bad it was never launched again. All made possible by your friendly neighborhood NSA spook working with NASA to give the Russians bullshite blueprints when they found out Russia was taking every bit of tech learned from NASA to build their shuttles.....Wonder why they look so much alike?

Cooler story is that the Russians were stealing the plans off the internet to build it... So NASA with some help from a 3 letter agency put out fake information on the protective tiles. That's why they only flew it once, it almost burnt up.

It was later found that Buran had lost only eight of its 38,000 thermal tiles over the course of its flight

Has more to do with aerodynamics than stealing the design, if you gave a dozen aerospace engineers the desired operating specifications for a orbital space craft and asked them to design it you would get 12 very similar designs. Much like most airplanes designed for similar purposes and operational envelopes will look pretty similar.

I’ve been inside their prototype of their space shuttle in a Moscow museum.

I'd let her fist bustedsack too. BTW what is her name? I need to look her up in the Russian mail order bride catalog.

It's well documented that the Soviets stole the Concorde design to build the Tupelov Tu-144. It was abandoned after two crashes and for economic reasons. I've little doubt the Russian shuttle was more of the same.

Given that NASA is a civilian organization, they probably called and got a copy of the blueprints .

The Buran. Just because someone found a video of this today and posted it on reddit acting like they discovered this doesn’t mean everyone didn’t know this.
My favorite ones are the people who act like the Buran was some superior piece of technology when it never actually did anything. Meanwhile, the 5 US space shuttles performed over 130 missions with only 2 failures.

I've seen a few programs on this. There's one with interviews from people who were involved in the program.
Care to post the name of said program? NetFlix?
Would love to watch this, have read about it a few times.

I've seen this before, but it's still cool.
Spent some time reading up on the Soviet Concorde, pretty cool how they were able to get the blueprints to build them from the French.

I'm guessing those things sag a bit. There's a lot of meat in that bra and it's a push up at that.

The Soviet version flew two months before the Concorde did.
