The Sirius/XM subscription game

It was time again to cancel my subscription and had to do the song and dance $109 for a year no thanks, special deal for $8 a month no thanks, finally you get to the 6 months for $30 deal. Hopefully everyone knows that you can get this deal every time your subscription runs out.

Sirius/XM hired the old AOL sales reps. It was the same thing with them when you tried to cancel. I swear, if you haggle long enough, they will agree to send you a check just to stay with their product.

My free trial runs out in a month so I am very interested to learn more about this. Is that part of a year contract or a 6 month contract? If a year, does the price go up significantly for the remaining months? Do they always call you when your subscription is running out? (This is my first Sirius experience)

call them a couple of days before the trial ends. Tell them you would like to renew for 6 months at $30 (I do $50 for 6 months but I have the online package).
They are going to tell you that you can't, that promotion is over etc...
Hold your ground and say you want to talk to someone else. Explain to new person you want the 6 months for $30 promotion. He will probably say he can't and give you a year for $109. Say no and hold your ground that you want the $30 for 6 months special.
He will finally send you to account services.
Profit.

It's not been that hard for me I just tell them I want to cancel because my promo is running out, they give me the first two options, I say no, and they give me the $5 month option. Never had to go through any extra hoops.

It's not hard to call before your subscription is out and ask what deals they have. You're a real innovator.
I've always done this and never had to "threaten to cancel" like you guys do. No song, no dance.

I might of just had a hardass this go around.
They almost broke me, I thought they were done doing it.
Good info though for anyone doing the special. Hold your ground no matter what they say, you will get it eventually.

Signed up for the life time subscription about 10 years ago. I have XM with the best of Sirius package.
